I'm mostly very good these days about letting novels go once read - either to the charity shop or to Mum if it's one she's not read. There's a few authors I'll keep stuff from but not that many. I've committed to not buying any more until the ones I have are read though.
Good work on mortgage OP's and cat evasion - both subjects that feature heavily in my past! :rotfl:
Book diet, shudder .
I had to evade a rabbit this evening, he kept weaving in and out of my legs so I kept nearly stepping on him :rotfl:. I think he was desperate for attention. He's washing his foot now in front of the telly. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I think I'm more likely to cope without chocolate, wine and biscuit all at once, than a book diet. I don't buy new ones often, but would struggle if I knew I couldn't, although I've got better at letting go.
We have a Boyes in our little town and I haven't been in for a while, but will try to resist. Warm undies sound nice, but I really don't need any.
Glad I'm not the only one with a strong attachment to her dressing gown. Little cat has made a mess of it with her claws, though.0 -
The few cookery books I’ve bought lately were purchased via kindle in order to keep my kitchen clutter free as it’s small. I initially resisted the idea as kindles aren’t great for books that include illustrations or photos but downloading the kindle app on my iPad is a whole different experience. Illustrations and photos are clear and concise and I can prop the iPad up via its cover just like you would with a book on a cookery stand. I still have my beloved old cookery books but I think this is the way forward for me now. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I still have far too many cookery books, which live in the regular bookcases, as the kitchen is just too tiny. A few books are on my kindle (and I agree, that doesn't work well), but for online recipes I have placed the laptop on the dining table before, as that's just through the kitchen door.
Must look if there are any recipe books on kindle unlimited. I can try them out and make a note of any good ones.0 -
Never thought of using kindle unlimited for cookery books MrsC - must look into it!Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

What a result that the family is helping!:T
Isn’t that what flylady preaches - you begin to start, and then the family follows.....:D. Now all you need is to buy is some small paintbrushes in the diy store so those felines can start mucking in as well........:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Great news on the family joining in... I'm guessing you've got the same delightful weather as me, otherwise you'd be out in the garden.
I've been shopping. And spent lots of money on clothes.
What I really need to do is a lot of laundry and work out how I can get my entire wardrobe out as clearly I need all four seasons available at all times...
I also need to have a bit of a sort out of stuff in the kitchen and utility rooms so that I can clear some of the many boxes out of the bedrooms/sitting room/dining room and a. cook/eat properly and b. feel less like I'm camping. I expect I'll get round to it... probably just in time to have to pack up again for the kitchen to go in!0 -
Snow then rain Greenbee It does sound like you need more wardrobe more than you do the kitchen.
DS1 hadn't got enough for the game he wanted after doing his room, and I refused to let DS2 subcontract the work out for the second week in a row, hence the glass cleaning. No jobs, no pocket money - and if it isn't done by Saturday bedtime then you have to do it on Sunday unpaid. Evil mother.
OH tidied his craft room a bit so he now can access the sewing machines.
I was up bright and early and got more shelves done, very little to weed out as they are his craft books so its more dusting and sorting. The sofa corner looks much better as a result. I found a couple of how to knit/how to crochet things that I shall have a flick through later. Still need to make gloves but my hands need to stop being sore first.
I do the cookbooks on the ipad thing, and also take photographs of the recipes I use regularly. He made me an ipad stand for the kitchen a while ago which is great for recipes.
Lasagne for dinner, so every dish and pan used. Tried the roast the mince thing which worked well and I would bother again. Need to empty and fill the DW again, ready for 9am tomorrow and free electricity. The WM and TD are full ready to be switched on too. When did Saturday nights get so exciting? My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Of course if the kitchen was sorted then the bedrooms wouldn't be full of kitchen stuff...
I need to make a list for the builders and see how far we can get by doing bits and pieces on odd days. But it will mean making a decision on paint colours, which is the hardest bit.0
