Dropping off and collecting people at Stansted

Hi all
My partner will be collecting me from Stansted next month and I've been looking into the options. I'd rather not pay anything, so from what i can tell there is only one option and that is to use the free facility in the Mid-Stay car park.
Firstly, could I just ask whether there are any other options?
Secondly, presuming that the Mid-Stay option is the best (or only) one, can anyone confirm whether anything needs to be booked? The website says it is free for the first hour and £1.50 for the second hour. If having to pay £1.50, how is this done? Anything else I need to do?
Also, is it easy to find for the driver who is collecting me?
And finally, where do the buses run from at the airport which take you to that car park?
Many thanks for any help...

Its on the siteOnce you’ve returned to your vehicle drive up to the exit barrier. Either the barrier will raise or if you were issued with a ticket, insert the ticket. If you have pre-booked DO NOT insert Credit Card at the barrier as you may be charged again. The barrier will open for you to exit. If you experience any difficulties, please press the call button for assistance.

There's no other free pick-up option at Stansted. On arrival you can find the bus to the mid-stay carpark just outside the terminal. There's a particular zone in the carpark for 'free drop off' where your partner should park and you alight the bus. There's no need to prebook. The service is not efficient so your partner could delay entering the carpark until you call to announce that you have passed immigration, to give more chance of staying within the one hour free period.Evolution, not revolution0

Thanks for the replies.
eDicky - when you say the service is not very efficient I presume you are referring to the regularity of the buses?
And so if for some reason she did wait more than an hour but less than two, how would she pay the £1.50?
Many thanks0 -

You pay by card at the gate,as per the site/my post.0 -
Thanks custardy. I must be thick, blind, or ugly - perhaps all three - but I've read your post and the link and still can't see where it says that you pay by card at the gate.
Presumably it is not possible to pay cash then?0 -

Its not worded well,as its more advising pre bookers not to put their card in.
I have used these types before, put your ticket in and then put your payment card in.0 -
OK, thanks custardy. I get it now. Presumably you get a ticket on the way in. On the way out you put the ticket in the machine, which then knows if you have been under or over an hour... If under an hour, you wheel spin into the distance and don't look back. If over, you curse and part with fee via your flexible friend... Is that right (minus the wheel spinning)?0

What I do when I pick k the daughter up is wait at the services on the .M11. She calls when she gets to the main terminal and I then drive in and pick her up outside the terminal. Pay the fee to get out and that's it. A lot simpler than parking in mid stay or whatever0

The only thing with this is that you have to pay £3.50 and are limited to 10 minutes so not good if there is a last minute problem!!0
