Viewing a Will after probate

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I am considering putting in a request to via the Government's 'find a will' service.
Does anyone know whether the executor (or anyone else) will be informed if I put the request in?
Many thanks.

Wills are public documents after probate.

Anyone can buy a copy; no-one gets told that a copy has been bought.

As Mj says it is public. Start here to find it

    Help please....

If you use the gov.uk to get a will, can you print copies off and send for probate purposes (claiming unused band from previous deceased husband)?

You can certainly print copies, but the probate office won't want to see those.

    Thanks for that.

Anyone recommend a good service to use to get copies that are usable please?

You need a solicitor to make certified copies of the original will.

    Are you an executor?

This is a previous will, not the one that we are dealing with now.

You need to ask HMRC what they will accept as proof for the current estates entitlement to the transferable nil rate band

If there was a capital return for the previous estate HMRC may not require anything as they already know how much unused nil rate band there is to transfer

The forms seem to suggest you need the old will to show there were no other beneficiaries listed to have used any of the threshold, or am I chatting rubbish?
