Wetherspoons unfair drinks policies!

^^ I though similar ,
Or maybe their research tells them that coffee drinkers are more likely to spend more on food or other stuff whilst they are there - hence the incentive for coffee drinkers ..
We have a local market on Thursdays.
The (ahem) older generation get in the local 'spoons for their unlimited filter coffee early then go off to browse the market - taking their coffee mugs with them so they can go back in and partake of free coffee.
As a filter coffee costs just over £1, how tight is that?0 -
It makes me cross that I have to pay the same for a cup of weak black tea (half fill cup with tea, top up with water), my friend takes milk and two sugars.0

Don't forget there's a lot of competition with coffee drinkers, ie; Costa, Starbucks, Caffe Nero etc. Coffee is the fix of the day. I have two cups a day, at home. I used to work with someone who had six or more a day.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Was in Wetherspoons last night and hubby wanted just ice cream for his sweet. Sorry, we cant do that the guy said so he ordered apple crumble with ice cream. 10 mins later a girl came to our table and said 'Sorry but we have no apple crumble left' so hubby said 'Can I just have ice cream then'? Of course came the reply and he was served with a massive bowl of ice cream.
However, we had 2 steaks, 2 drinks and 2 sweets for £21 and I don't think I would complain at that.
When ordering a meal which comes with a drink then even though the drink may not be what I would normally order there is still a reasonable choice.0 -
i used to work in hospitality and our kitchen manager was a horrible woman who loved asserting her power. we would often have to tell people no to simple requests like "instead of the beer that comes with this meal deal, can i have an orange juice?" even though the juice was cheaper if bought separately. but if we had done this and she found out, it would have been our heads on the chopping board, and she refused to entertain any kind of customer service or allow any of these swaps. so don't blame the staff! most of the time they're just doing their job and following policy, afraid to get in trouble.CCCC #33: £42/£240

will never forget going to a cafe and asking for a sausage sandwich with chips. Was told I couldn't have one as it was a breakfast item but I could have sausage and chips - with a side order of bread.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Ages ago I went to one of my local chippies to get sausage & chips in a tray (a set price deal) and it came with mushy peas. I asked if I could have the mushy peas in a polystyrene container and was told no, it had to be tipped over the chips, I didn't want this, so I had to tell her I didn't want the mushy peas.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

I drink cider, my husband beer. For menu items "including a drink", he can have any real guest ale but I can't have any real guest cider. This is just plain unfair to cider drinkers.
Tim Marin is the Chairman, may be worth a proper paper letter addressed to him, personally, via the Watford HQ? {Though I think he's an ale man. :eek:}
Saw him one time in our then local in Rickmansworth (a major management training pub we reckoned). Big chap. Many years ago, though.0 -

Their system treats guest ciders as real ale - they work on the free drink with a meal. So this complaint is invalid, as you can have the guest cider...
I drink cider, that's how I know. Works with the "cider festival" drinks when they do it too.0 -

Dilemma.
