Sky Mobile

Hi All,

I am currently at the end of my current mobile phone contract with EE. I have been shopping around and as a Sky TV/Broadband customer I have been offered a very attractive offer. Tempted to snap their hands off, I feel that as the new kids on the block I want to know more.... word of mouth so to speak.... So calling all sky mobile customers, I need your help.

a) How are you find the service/ coverage?
b) Have you had any bad issues or problems?
c) Does this rollover data thing really work and is an advantage?

I also what to know if it is right for me to think that should I leave Sky Tv my monthly bill would go up by £10 as a result?

Over all is Sky better than EE?

Please help if you can with my pondering....

Thanks

I'm neither with Sky or EE, however there are a number of areas to check in the terms and conditions, some T&Cs are hard to find too.

Clearly SIM only should give you a better deal than one including a phone...

    1. Do they provide a cap on call and data costs? Some have no cap/limit on call costs in the UK, even though they may stop data when it runs out. Ideally a spending cap of perhaps £5 a month? The sending of a text message when you are near the limit is not reliable.
    2. If you need tethering, is it included?
    3. If you need international roaming (outside the EU) are the costs of likely destinations included or at least reasonable? If relevant do they include the Isle of Man and the Channel Is?
    4. Being Sky, can you watch TV via data without eating away at your data allowance?

Clearly if you ditch Sky for TV and broadband, they will adjust your mobile costs.

    1. It's unlimited minutes and texts on Sky while a Sky customer.
    2. ?
    3. ?
    4. No (surprisingly perhaps)

The idea of a cap on call costs is to limit out of bundle costs, which may include accidentally calling a premium rate, Isle of Man, overseas number, etc. The recent Digital Economy Bill is supposed to address this issue of bill shock, but few mobile networks take any notice - to the disadvantage of customers who either don't notice, or notice when the bill arrives.

Some networks do have such a cap, many do not.
