Best place to advertise a private rental?

Brilliant tenants have bought a house and given notice - I wish them well. Any suggestions for the best place to advertise a private rental to maximise exposure? Current tenants were found through Gumtree 2 years ago, but I would like to widen the Search. I have no wish to use a LA or an EA. Property is a 2 bed flat in Scotland by the way (if that makes any difference).

I always put cards in the local shop windows, I've never had to advertise anywhere else!0

I will certainly do that, I once sold a house that way!0

Do you use Facebook? If so there are a lot of local buy/sell groups and other community groups, often people post things up like houses/flats for sale. Gets a lot of quick local exposure to potential buyers!0

Thanks Sparx, OH is on Facebook and is as I recall a member of a local buy/sell scheme - added to the list.0

I avoid gumtree at all costs.
I've successfully found tenants by going round local large office blocks, big business, and asking permisson to put up notices on their staff nottice boards.
Usually need permission from either Receptionist/Security, or Human Resources.0 -
Thanks, G_M, there is an industrial estate nearby, so that is worth a shot. Interested why you would avoid Gumtree at all costs? Existing tenants found that way, and after extensive checks, I was happy to have them, and they have been no problem.0

Gumtree has a very poor reputation for scammers who advertise on the property pages.0

I found my last rental in Scotland on Gumtree and, having left now (after 4 years), the owner has found new tenants on Gumtree.0

From £30 on Openrent you can get on Rightmove, Zoopla, Primelocation etc.
If you're looking to rent to professionals it's probably worth it. Compared to the cost of just one local paper advert (back in the days when people advertised in local papers) it's good value.
Because it has the appearance of an 'agent' you may be less likely to be targetted by scammers etc.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I have no doubt that some landlords have found excellent tenants on gumtree, and some tenants have found excellent properties to rent on gumtree.
I have also no doubt that some tenants have been scammed on gumtree, and some landlords have been scammed on gumtree.
I prefer to minimise my exposure to risk.0
