Download 'Restore point creator' and cease worrying.

I use that but it won't solve the problem I don't think.

OP go to Settings/Update and Security/Recovery and you will get 2 options to recover, 1 will recover and save all you data etc but you'll have to reinstall all your programs which for some reason are nowadays called apps, and the other option is to recover but lose date etc. I've done it twice with no problems, but I'd advise to backup your data just in case.

It wasn't meant to solve the OP's original problem, but, it addressed the queries regarding SR as the thread moved on.

I believe it creates a restore point?

    Restore points use VSS Technology.

Go to a command promt and type 'vssadmin list shadows' and a list of shadow copies (restore points) and their creation time should appear too. This just list the restore points.

    ******************************
In powershell you can list the restore points too in a friendlier way by using
    'get-computerrestorepoint'

This get the help file to restore the restorepoint
    'get-help Get-ComputerRestorePoint'

think you will have to google this, as I have never done it.

    **********************************

I have never used this but google gave me this link. think it does indevidual files https://www.maketecheasier.com/back-up-restore-data-windows-shadow-copy/

I have used diskmgmt.msc, right clicked the partiton, selected properties, then the "previous version" tab

You may also need to disable you a/v and also have a read through this page

I took the plunge and installed and used Macrium to make a cloned image which will update on a weekly or monthly basis thanks to good instructions from the kind folk here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5686478
