When I used to order medication for work we had to order them the second week in (of 4) and I often chased them up on the tuesday before delivery on a Friday to solve problems beforehand. Id always check a few days before, lost count the number of mistakes over the years

  • Because Boots is our nominated (not for much longer) pharmacy all we do is tick off the items we need for the next time.
Our surgery has different pharmacies that collect prescriptions and I believe each pharmacy collect 3 times a week. I was explaining to the pharmacist today (calmly, mind)! That in the last 2-2.5 years we have been collecting that my husbands medication has never been there 100% when we collect and that he'd never received a text message to say it was ready or anything. I 100% agree that I shouldn't have left it until 2:30pm to call as we've had so many problems in the past. But because I was told by the pharmacist last weekend that it'd be ready Monday/Tuesday I wasn't really thinking straight because I haven't been well I've been having a really rough few weeks (I have even had intervention from the crisis team who were coming to visit me at home every day) I'm just so fed up of feeling like this tbh now.

I know I shouldn't really be saying this but I just don't know where to turn anymore...

    It's a Boots thing, it's why I don't use them any more.

You mention pharmacies and collecting prescriptions. Investigate EPS, it really is the way of the future, no paper scripts involved needing to be collected - the prescription goes electronicvally to your chosen pharmacy and you can instantly change your nominated pharmacy.
  • Thanks PMDUK,

Unfortunately, our surgery is apparently the only surgery in the area which hadn't gone electronic yet!
This morning I have contacted a little independent pharmacy who sound a lot lot better, maybe that's where we've been going wrong I don't know. We were before Boots with Lloyds and one incident they gave me the wrong drug completely. They apologised profusely which was good. But like I say maybe we need a quiet pharmacy where we aren't going to get lost in their system.

I'd just like to take a second though to thank everyone for all their help and advice. I have read all the comments

My parents ,doctor and chemist use a system which seems to suit all involved.
Mum and dad have on going medical needs for which they see the doctor regularly. The doctor electronically sends their scripts to the local chemist and delivers each month on the 5th if a weekend, the Friday before.
Chemist telephones at end of each month to confirm delivery in a few days and then medicine's are delivered in dossette box.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

The dossette boxes are great and will save you all the extra work of sorting out your medication for the next week. Worked perfectly for my mum and saves having all those boxes in the cupboard. Good idea to check with the independent pharmacy whether they offer them.
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Yes, will definitely check with the independent pharmacy. They sound a much better idea.

    Thanks x
