You need them showing on Halifax online banking, and I'd recommend paying them at least once each before switching Halifax to Nationwide.hey guys, just sorting out the tesco account direct debits from the halifax account. But you can't have switched the donor Santander account to Halifax (for £75) yet anyway?...unless you've now abandoned that idea?0 -

i havent switched yet, the bits just turned up, i was just pre setting the halifax debits up and wondered if id have to wait these 2 weeks to do the halifax nationwide swap0 -
So i was only half paying attention and opened a halifax current account for the cash back, then saw Id have to move and close everything I have with Santander to get the cash, not worth it.
So my question is, is there any negative impact on me if i close the halifax account right away as I dont need it? Was looking for something to separate my savings out into but it seems perhaps a nationwide account is better for that?
Cheers for the insight and assistance
Not much of a negative impact if you close it that I can see except that if the account makes it to your credit history the account won't be open. Take advantage of your right to cancel if that's still open to you.
Eagle-eyed lenders might compare a new credit search with the lack of a new account and make two plus two equal three considering that you didn't get the account because there is something wrong. But doubtful on that too.0 -

I believe I answered that question in post #2? If you want confirmation then maybe check out the Halifax switching incentive T&Cs on their website. Do you see mention of a DD requirement there?Hey,

Are you seriously going to switch an account with a zero balance?0 -
