You have two computer shops within 5 miles, nip in there and see what they have.

Why bother with spending that much and hoping to sell it if you already have a monitor and keyboard etc.

Just spend £50 or less on a Tower unit. Over a year, that will cost just over £4 per month, minus whatever you manage to recoup on selling it.

    Example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELL-OPTIPLEX-780-TOWER-INTEL-Core-2-Duo-4GB-RAM-160GB-HDD-DVD-Windows-7-WiFI-/272139776236

This is what I meant when I said I would consider Laptop or Desktop, maybe I used the wrong word, I thought "desktop" would include all "large box" type computers.

I would actually prefer it to be a tower.

Will these come with a Win 7 install disc, if I ever need to do a fresh install? Like I woud be given a license number?

    I'll look again on ebay

Unlikely you get a disk but could ask them; getting the license number is easy e.g. use Belarc; create your own system image using Windows 7 Backup OR use Macrium Reflect (free); of-course you'll need offline media to do this.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

If there is no Dell re-installation media supplied, I'll send you the image.

I prefer Tower to SFF or USFF. But that is because I wanted to have SSD as a separate Boot drive and the graphics card from a previous machine installed.

You asked to help find one, but you are "looking again" anyway. What's that about?

    "What's that about"
Simply that my first search was for "laptop" local to me. I have not looked at ebay in my local area for collection only, tower types, there might be something better.

Or nationally there might be something better.

And I over complicate any purchase I make,........ it's what I do, unfortunately.

The one you linked to, is it good value? Do you see any others that I could consider especially with my postcode?

If you were me, which one would you buy?

    Thanks

When you wrote "Need a cheap computer quick" I thought you meant it. :)

Why are you agonising over a few pounds? You may find something with a decent CPU and 4GB of RAM with a WiFi adapter cheaper, but how much cheaper??

There is a thread above yours with someone threatening to get rid of a perfectly good laptop. With courier pick-up and the cost of a new HDD/SSD... you'll still be ahead.

    It's a shame you're so far away.
I've got a desktop going spare that you could have for £20 (yes, it's quite old).
It'll never set the world on fire but it runs quite happily on XP (yes, it really is that old).
Not sure if it'll run anything newer but you never know....

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.
  • Put this with your monitor and keyboard and you'll be fine - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XSG4B84

There are loads of budget refurbished PCs on Amazon. Or, go to those PC shops and try something out.
