Well, you've started well by asking for advice, but as you can see everybody thinks your idea is a non-starter.

I'm not the best to give advice as I didn't have a car until I was 28, although as I'd had a cheap motorcycle I only needed 6 hours of lessons to pass first time. Then I bought a banger off a friend for £100 which lasted me 10 months, sold for £70 and learnt a bit about basic car servicing from said friend! As he pointed out, buy less popular models as they are cheaper..

In your case, leaving aside the logistics of storage or choice of car before passing your test, have you any idea how much insurance will cost? Every year older you can wait will help reduce the cost. If you go off to university many campuses have no space and hence ban cars, and most students don't have them.

In the meantime start saving and I hope you pass your test soon: that's handy for your employment prospects if nothing else.
