Having a wayward week. I was on track but on Tuesday a friend came round for the eve and unexpectedly brought a bottle of wine. I then felt compelled to share it with her as the expectation was there. Wednesdays I had a sod itvday, which I paid for yesterday. Today I’ve been AF to catch up. And to give myself 48 hours recovery. Tomorrow we have friends to stay. Prosecco will be involved but not silly.

Have a good weekend all. I’m behind, so have a few catch up days to go. Could be hard with half term approaching.

  • Enjoy your weekend, life is too short!

Definitely a non AFD tonight for me after a very carp week

Thought I was doing Ok so far this month but I am away for 3 nights next week and the frame of mind I am in at the moment will lead to non-AFDs which will throw me off target. At the moment I just don't have the strength to resist, other things are just too stressful. That sounds awful and I do question my managing techniques but don't have the strength to stand up to them at present
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
  • Elusive Lucy you sound like me and how I feel about work. I hope you feel better soon but these things are never easy. May take time. Sending you hugs and hang on in there. You're not alone.

I'm up to 12/24 with the last drinking day also being a coping mechanism/ reaction to some major solid work frustrations.
Trying to have a more sober week this week.

    Thank you all. xxx

Morning all, 10/21 for me today.

ElusiveLucy and Poor_Single_Lady, really sorry to hear about the work stress and can only hope that either it gets better or that you find a nicer job, if that's a possibility. x

I almost forgot to say, last night I watched "The Lost Weekend" - has anyone else seen it? It was a 1945 drama, which won Oscars for best film and best actor among other awards. and is about a guy who is an alcoholic going on a huge bender. It stars Ray Milland and was directed and co-written by Billy Wilder, who also directed "Some Like It Hot" among others (don't know if anyone else here is an old movie fan?) Anyway, "The Lost Weekend" is a sobering experience in all senses of the word. Ray Milland was a fine actor and wonderfully handsome, which doesn't hurt :p I thought it was so good I plan to read the novel on which it was based.

I've never seen it CathyBird, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Sometimes it's all we can do to just keep plodding through, Elusive Lucy. As a way of life it's not okay, but as a coping strategy to get you through a stressful time, if that's the way it's got to be, then so be it.

The important thing to consider, I think, is can you see a point in the not too distant future when things will be considerably better? If you can then all you've got to do is get through this patch, and pretty much any way you can do that is okay.

If not, however, if this is a permanent way of life, then that's a different matter.

(((Hugs))) for you and PSL and everyone else who's having a hard time at work, or life in general.

    14/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
  • Hi All,

Forgot to post yesterday as I was so busy rushing about. Had my day out in Edinburgh today with a friend and I should never have worried about telling her I wasn't drinking.. I mentioned it on the way into town and she said that she had probably drunk enough this week as well and would join me!. Did some book shopping for my book folding and got way to excited when i found a fabulous book with blue outer pages.. 'Look , look what I found!!! It's perfect!!' She looked at me as if I were mad and then we both fell about in tears of laughter..:rotfl: We had a lovely meal and both drunk juice with it and then homeward bound.

Now sitting with my 8 year old watching some telly and planning our day tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

    14/31 please Shaggy
  • 4/14 Please Shaggy.

I went off the rails last week. 2 hangover/jaded days where everything was a struggle.

Sleep and digestion disrupted, nerves jangled so didn't drink tonight. I'm hoping to sleep through tonight.

Hugs to others still struggling along too.

    Sleep well everyone.
