Today I am going to the pub but then nothing till new year eve.
I love this time of year but it is a bit excessive on the drinking.

Morning all, well I'm happy to report that my attempt at a drinking day yesterday resulted in me downing a whole one-third of a bottle of wine and then I was done :rotfl:Actually that's not strictly true as I did slosh a bit of marsala over the pudding and there was booze in the mincemeat for the mince pies too, and in the ice cream. But quite honestly, for the time of year especially, and compared to previous Christmases, I drank very little. I do have some leftover wine that I need to do something with. I might either turn it into mulled wine or stick it in the freezer, I haven't decided. I hope everybody else had a good time yesterday. It's wonderfully crisp and sunny out there today for Boxing Day, a great day for a walk.
  • Merry Christmas everyone! Well done HoneyBear.

I had a low booze day yesterday compared to previous Christmases. I want to commit to another one this evening which will take me to 9/10 in December please Shaggy.

I’m also planning to be booze free tomorrow and Thursday, undecided about Friday.

I hope everyone has a good Boxing Day evening.
  • Forgive me taklking to myself here!

I slept brilliantly and I’m planning to hit my target tonight so 10/10 for me please Shaggy. The s*d-it drinking week I indulged in earlier in December postponed me hitting target on 20th December by 7 days. Pleased to have had 10 again this December like 2016. I previously boozed through most or all of the whole month in 2015 and earlier and felt really jaded. Now to stop drinking so much I have hangovers, I am still not where I want to be in that regard.

Back to work today for me. Enjoy your day off if you are lucky enough to have one today!

    Hello All.
Trying to get to 31st without drinks. Trying hard.
I don't think I can commit to dry January but would like to go for as many AF days as life will allow.

I find it's a lot easier to resist booze when I don't have to make a new decision every day, PSL! In your case you've done so incredibly well over the past year I wouldn't want to upset your excellent run, so if you think Dry January wouldn't work for you, don't commit to it. It'll be much simpler to limit your intake in January because so many people cut it out altogether, so the pressure to slosh it back isn't quite so relentless.

I can't really take credit any more for not drinking on Christmas day. OH tied one on, the people we were with were very generous with the bottles of various things and I just felt relieved that I don't say, 'Yes yes yes' to everything and then conk out at 7.00 pm as I used to. I loaded up OH (well, kind of poured him into the car, really) along with the dog and drove home at 9.00 pm. It would have been a good idea if OH had stopped then or just had a nightcap and I said so, but also said I wasn't going to say anything else about it. He had the bit between his teeth, though. He was okayish yesterday but he slept very badly last night and I haven't had the heart to point out why yet, but I will a bit later. It's been a very, very long time since he drank like that and we used to do it together so I can't say much really.

Another couple we spend a lot of time with cancelled something recently because they got a bit carried away while watching the whole of the first series of Line of Duty one Saturday night. Apparently the husband said he was seriously considering giving up altogether the next day which he'd never one before. He did look a bit rough and neither of them could even keep liquids down until gone 11.00 am. The upshot of it is that he's decided he's not going to, but she's decided she wants to be 'Fitter at 50' than she is now, so she's giving up booze from today until her birthday in December. That's really surprised me, so jolly good luck to her.

    27/31
    please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
