Pleased to read your son is getting better Slowdown.
I heard a radio programme about drinking talking about binge drinking the other day and the definition seemed low to me, consuming 6 or more units in a session with recommended units per week of 14 for both men and women. Food for thought.
Kept to my AFD yesterday but must confess I am looking forward to a glass of wine tonight - as long as not more than two or three. Love the dancing Santa but really like the rather rounder Santa (like attracting to like) for 14 days so need to get some more AFDs next week.
Terrible article on news this morning about the amount of alcohol related injuries this weekend and the need for more ambulances. Makes you think.0 -

13/21 AFDs today, work's Christmas Meal this afternoon, dull as, I was home by 4:45pm.
I had to go to some seriously dire Christmas meals over the years and decided in the end the only way I could cope was to host it myself. Everyone in the small office I worked in agreed so we had them and their partners to a dinner we all chipped in to pay for. OH and I cooked a rib of beef with all the trimmings, can't remember the first course, dessert and cheese, plenty of wine and beer, chocolates etc and we had a murder mystery game throughout, for which everyone dressed accordingly - not much but enough to make us laugh. Best works do I ever attended, and all for the grand cost of £20 a head - mind you, it was a few years ago and OH is a dab hand at doing a roast. I did everything else, though.
I thoroughly recommend taking the bull by the horns and not agreeing to spending time and money doing something you really don't enjoy just because 'we've always done it that way.' I'd rather go go-carting or paint-balling in January or Febrary, to be honest.
One of the best things about not working outside the home any more is not having to even think about forced socialising. I don't do it where I volunteer, either, although I understand why it's important to hold such events. Basically I'm pretty anti-social.
Welcome back Scatterbrain!

Honey Bear, does paintballing not bring out the worst in people? ... Go-carting sounds fun though. I like the idea of the home-based Christmas do, I must say. It couldn't be done at my workplace as it's central London and there are too many people who come from absolutely miles away but it's a lovely idea. One of the best things about not working outside the home any more is not having to even think about forced socialising. That's interesting. It's only semantics but I think of a 'day off' as a day when I choose to have a drink. So I think that means my default setting is to be AF.Honey_Bear wrote: »I'd rather go go-carting or paint-balling in January or Febrary, to be honest.
I've never fancied paint balling but go-carting is great fun. We did it for a hen do when my friend got married.Honey_Bear wrote: »Basically I'm pretty anti-social.
I'm not calling it yet but I'm planning to be AF today which will take me to my minimum target for December. I'm out at Christmas Ball but I've volunteered to drive so unless I succumb when I get home I'll be on bonus days from Monday.:D0 -
