Roll up, Roll up. A New Month, A New Challenge.SET A31 days up for grabs!
Everyone Welcome!!!What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

I got Kuwait, Cathy Bird. I'm going to do it again as I would have done in my old drinking days. That should be interesting!pollyanna24 wrote: »The thing is, is that I still think I drink too much. On Friday I really really look forward to that bottle of wine. And sometimes, I open a second bottle. I justify it to myself by saying that I don’t drink during the week anymore, but now I’m thinking is it a good enough reason?
Wish I could find the happy medium of only having a couple. I’ve kinda accepted I’m not that person and so that is why I don’t start in the first place when I can. I got in from the school performance last night and was really tempted to open a bottle, but I didn’t. Thought about it all the way up to 9pm though when I made a cup of tea instead.
Pollyanna, I was nowhere near as disciplined as you are about my drinking. Well done. I very rarely had a night off for about 20 years and 10 of those years were pretty heavy drinking ones. I decided in the end it was vital that I stopped altogether but it's not the easy option, however, I'm with your father and brother - it's the best thing I've ever done. Horses for courses - you have to really want to be alcohol-free to be able to do it and even then people don't always succeed.
What you're doing qualifies as binge-drinking and I'm not sure whether it's worse for us than drinking at least two or more every night. However, a quick search turned up this article and it may be worth a read. (I'm a huge believer in gathering information when trying to work something out.) I don't necessarily understand the methodology and terminology but the results and discussion are interesting.
Those of us with issues around alcohol find moderation tricky, I think, once we start. The trick, as you've found, is not to start and the higher those numbers of days per year, the better off we are. There are a lot of people who contribute to this thread who manage it very well indeed.
I'm very lucky in that I stopped when I did - if I'd carried on for another couple of years I don't think I could have escaped. Do I miss it? Nope. I love my new life. Am I tempted? A bit occasionally, but not enough to make me want to have one. I still eat liquer chocolates and I don't intend to stop doing that ever.
Well done on resisting. If you want to find out what makes it easier to resist sometimes to the point when you don't drink, it's worth thinking about what triggers the different outcome - it could be as simple as you've given yourself permission on Fridays and Saturdays, like doing a deal with yourself for resisting Monday to Fridays. What happens with Sundays?I can’t relate to what you’ve typed completely.
I think that's a typo, Cuppa (and Pollyanna)!

11/24 for tonight please
I am so glad I no longer have works parties to attend as they are usually on this date and it is sheer ice outside. No snow for days but pavements have not been cleared and it is too cold for it to melt0 -
Slides in the back row, wearing big shades and a wig....
Can I come back please?
All has not been lost in my absence, my AF rate is about 30% per month, my LFT'S are back within normal limits but the road I'm currently on is running ever closer to the slippery slope.
Can I get back on board please?

Good to 'see' you!
Great idea to get back on the wagon now rather than wait until 2018!
Do post a target for the rest of the month if you want.0 -
Thank you maman
I've had 3 so far this month and am aiming for 12
I have a planner on my pad and I either mark on it a day "off" (as in off the booze) or if I do drink then I used to mark how much I spent. I stopped the latter for a couple of months and my consumption went up so I'm going back to thaty method to track just how much I am drinking and spending.
Aiming for 11 in December so at the moment I am 3/11Sealed pot challenge number - #057 2017 = £172.57 2018 = ????
