Parking problem

Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
Our elderly next door neighbour has an issue with their next door neighbour parking their work van on the road outside her house. The van is quite large (although under 7.5 tonnes) and obstructs her vision as she reverses out of her drive. She seems to think the highway law regarding obstruction includes visual obstruction. My understanding of it is that's it's illegal to obstruct the road only. Can anybody clarify this for me please.

Maybe your neighbour should learn to reverse IN to the drive instead.

Or she could park on the road and allow her neighbour to park his van in her drive, thus removing the visual obstruction for all road users.

The neighbour with the van has done nothing wrong whatsoever. I'm sick of reading about people who think that they own the road outside homes. THEY DON'T!

My neighbour is having similar issues at the moment, we each have a parking space behind our garages, with the spaces next to that space being on road parking with no legal right to park there, other house have parking out the front. All spaces are at 90 degrees to the road, so proper parking.

Everyone in the street respected everyone elses spaces, except for one family down the street who bought a property down the end of a path, with no parking, they have 3 vehicles and one is a works van which they have been terrorising my neighbour with, when she spoke to the driver, the family bought a scrapper of a Peugeot and parked it in her remaining space (for the last 3 months) the parking situation is now getting silly, one family has got the whole street p1ssed off at eachother and to make matters worse this family is now running what I suspect is a cash in hand childcare business, so come 5-7pm there is nowhere to park at all.

Whilst there may be no right to parking, it does cause serious issues and tensions in the street between neighbours.

The chap who drives this van, he's also taken to messing with peoples cars (lifting wipers etc) to get neighbours even more mad at each other, but i've got the clown on CCTV doing it and i'm gradually spreading the word.
I'm just waiting for him to get chance to cross my neighbours on the other side (they rarely leave their spaces empty), as they have no concept of reasonable escalation and will torch his cars if he tries it on.

A tip off to HMRC and the local council social services may possibly put an end to it thus freeing up a few parking spaces.

Oh that one hasn't been ignored..... Ive been collecting details of their comings and goings, cars, reg numbers, etc.
Neither has giving his employer a bad review on Google and telling people all about how they're letting him terrorise his Asian neighbours using his works van.
Neither has calling the Police and showing them CCTV video evidence of him bending windscreen wipers.

But as I mentioned "reasonable escalation", so i'll sit back for now, give em enough rope and if they carry on i'll **** them over so badly they won't know which way is up.

Wouldn't this possibly be an offence?

    Wording of the act is:
22 Leaving vehicles in dangerous positions.

If a person in charge of a vehicle causes or permits the vehicle or a trailer drawn by it to remain at rest on a road in such a position or in such condition or in such circumstances as to [F1involve a danger of injury] to other persons using the road, he is guilty of an offence.

This offence covers situations such as parking on a blind bend, parking on a humpback bridge - because they block a proper line of sight when parking in such a manner. Of course I guess it might come down to whether he was causing a danger to road users in general rather than 1 person reversing off their drive.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Possibly, but only if the vision is obscured when driving off the drive. The neighbour should not be reversing off.

So you're harassing him and also accusing him of being a racist as well as slandering his employers business on Google? Comes as no surprise you're that kind of person. Only downside for you is if it ever comes to light that you've done the review on Google as a response to a person LEGALLY PARKING THEIR VEHICLE the company may choose to take you to court for damages.

It's only slanderous if it's a lie. End of the day that entire family is deliberately harassing people who just want to get on peacefully.
I was largely ignoring this behaviour up until they decided to **** with my car, which was clearly done against myself and others as an act of provocation/bullying after blocking my neighbours garage with a scrap car for the last 3 months.
