This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Hugs and positive vibes for those of you who are going through difficult times.
Judi I hope that your son is ok.
I can’t sleep again. I went to bed about midnight last night and slept through until just after 5.00am without waking up, so at least I got 5 hours solid without tossing and turning, but I can’t get out of this early waking.
When I made shepherd’s pie for dinner yesterday I made one for the freezer as well, but as I really enjoyed it last night I’ve decided to have it again today, so that means that I don’t have to do any cooking today, other than some veg to go with it.
Shame that I can’t say that about the washing though. I’ve got one load in now (at least I know the washing maching doesn't disturb my neighbour so can put it on this early) and I’ve stripped my bed so that will go in next. The forecast is for it to be dry today, and I hope it is so that I can get it on the line.
I’ve a little bit of housework to do this morning but not much and I may be meeting a friend in town for a catch up but other than not there won’t be much happening today.
Meanwhile I'm going to get another cup of tea and read for while.
I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning HOLLY and all to follow. The sun is shining now but I think we have odd showers forecast later. Now on my second coffee, the first didn't wake me up and I still feel half doped.
I didn't get the Friday Tidy and clean done yesterday with having the 3 DGDs to amuse all day, so that is to do today and I hate cleaning on a Saturday. But needs must as the place is a tip. Then I really do need to pop down town for some supplies as we haven't done a SM shop since before Mr TA's op almost 2 weeks ago. Store cupboard and freezers still well stocked but the fridge is bare of fresh stuff, and veg box and fruit bowl empty, so must make the effort. The trouble is I feel I CBA doing anything before I even start.
No idea yet what today's eats will be. I shall probably get some soup out to defrost for lunch, with a wrap or bagel. Tonight may be chicken transformed into something or other if I can be bothered faffing about.
Have a good day all and (HUGS) for all those in need/want of them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, it is a bit grey but the weatherman says that it isn't going to rain until late afternoon so there is a chance of getting the washing dry.
I didn't get round to reading or posting yesterday, had a busy day with a catchup and walk with an old friend, the Friday Tidy and general furtling about. Have just had a quick read, congratulations to JackieO, hope all goes well! Judi, hopefully your son will be home today and you won't be arrested for spousicide.
Last night I made meatballs in almond sauce with tge usual massive amount of salad, and then pancakes for the chaps. I don't like pancakes but don't mind cooking them, especially since DS bought me a rather nice new pan. I think he had an ulterior motive, if so it has been effective.
Today the mister is going hunter-gathering to T*so and I have no particular plans so I can have my weekly treat of a bubble bath rather than a quick shower and then carry on with toymaking. I'm making some sets of small dolls, each about 6 inches high. They all have clothes of various descriptions and their clothes are removable and interchangeable. I can knit up each doll in about 45 minutes but the clothes are very fiddlesome and take rather longer. Rewarding though and they should give pleasure to the children they are destined for. That is pretty poor sentence construction.
I need toast quite urgently. Have the best day possible, Dumpling I'm glad your daughter is getting some sleep and hope your poor mouth feels easier today.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning :hello:
That didn't take long - mr tru is back to his sarcastic, sulky, narcissistic best. I told him exactly what I thought about that and he said “well I earn all the money, perhaps I should just leave and take my wages with me”. I told him he should.
He made a show of putting the lead on Scampi and taking him out, when he came back he was all sweetness and light as if nothing had happened. Give him a few days and he'll say the argument never happened and he's so convincing that you'd almost believe him.
But he's still bloody here and I wish he'd just go.
I've been awake since 5am, Scampi needed to go out for a wee. I suppose it's better than the night before, he woke me up at 2am and I was awake for around two hours while he snuggled down and went straight back to sleep, lol.
I'm hoping for good weather this morning, I'll take a coffee on our walk and head for the park for lots of off-lead time with Scampi. Though I don't want to the weather to be too good, there will be lots of kids around if it isI have my book and crochet and I'm just going to pretend I'm alone in the house for the day.

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a lovely sunny morning here and I have woken up in a much better mood. I have my positive head back on and feel ready to tackle things again. I have sat and meal planned, ordered an online shop for tomorrow and worked out what I want to cook today (bacon and lentil soup if you are interested). The horrible sick feeling has gone for now and I feel much happier.
Steve has made me a lovely breakfast of dippy eggs and soldiers with a large mug of tea which has set me up for the morning. I need to strip the bed and wash it but that is all as I caught up with everything else yesterday. I don't expect to see the girls for a few hours yet as they didn't go to bed until really late. I think Lilly is working this lunchtime so peace will reign for a few hours at least.
I think Jemima (my eldest daughter) is coming over later with the grandchildren so that will be lovely to see them. If it stays dry they will be able to play in the garden or else we have loads of films they could watch.
Steve is going to take our dog Max for a long walk later on. We are so lucky where we live that there are fantastic walks all around. Max especially likes walking to the beach and playing with all the other dogs there. He is such a lovely dog, very cuddly when I am sad but always ready to play.
Well I am going to go and get all the ingredients ready for the soup so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
I haven't opened the blinds here yet though I know it's bound to be raining. The forecast was awful.
Yesterday DM and I spent some time looking on Google maps for the last place she was evacuated to during the war. She was at Sankt Peter - Ording which is on the coast. The trouble now is that many places in Germany objected to 'street view' so it's not available and there's nothing to recognise. So sad
This morning I'm doing my DM's shopping for her. I'm going early as she wants to visit an old friend in his care home before he has lunch. We called round yesterday but he was having his tea (at 4.30pm). Then just a couple of things to do which won't take long and I can head up home.
I've got some new towels to collect from Wrose too. And then some relaxing to do!
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Saturday.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to all those in need.
We are on the last stretch of the journey home, we've travelled 5 miles out and 5 miles home, lol.
Have a good day everyone.

I was still fast asleep at 7am, for the first time in ages, and my bloody neighbour woke me up:mad:
Didn't go to bed till very late so I am now sat stewing feeling tired and horrible...Why oh why oh why did I have to be disturbed on a rare non-working Saturday
Tru I feel or you I really do, living with someone who is a narcissist is decidedly unpleasant and if you add in sulky and sarcastic that is one hell of a difficult mix to endure. Do you really want him to leave? Life is too short to waste it on someone who makes you unhappy. I hope you and Scampi have a lovely time in the park.xx
Jackie lovely news about being a GGM, I hope all goes smoothly and bridges are rebuilt.
Judi I hope youngest is soon home and on the mend. Any news of Prodigal?
Nelski Hope you're ok my lovely, missing your posts but fully understand there are times when you just need to keep yourself to yourself. Take care :)x
Dumpling I know things haven't been easy for you recently so sending you some (((hugs))
I hope I haven't missed anything else important and I wish you all a relaxing, stress free and happy weekend :A xx'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning All
It has just started raining again, washing can go on the pulley, again.
I had a lovely day yesterday with friends, went on the train to East Kilbride to see another friends new house. Lovely house and good company but got soaked walking home from the train station.
DD's birthday today, can't believe my baby is 25! We are going to a food festival in Glasgow, hope we don't get too wet. Her and her bf are booked on the seaplane tomorrow, not sure it will fly.
Glad you are feeling more positive dumpling.
Deep breath tru, enjoy your walk.
Good news Jackie, hope everything goes well.
Tea at 4.30 Gers? Hope there was a good supper later!
Have a good weekend everyone. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry and bright here in east anglia so WM chugging away, hardest working thing in our house though how with only two hoomans and two dogs I don't know.
Not loads planned today, hopefully time in the garden as been so wet lately but depends on my energy levels, will pop out later as found a nice recipe for chicken tomorrow but  have none in the freezer. Tonight it's hot dogs and salad so easy peasy.
Sorry to hear about OH TRU do you have a decent patio? :rotfl:
Dippy eggs and a good dog Dumpling can solve most problems, enjoy your day x
Have a good day folks x0
