No Lauretta (makes me want to sing 'Loretta are you better are you well well well') but i should not digress.....

LondonSu has a father who owns a property valued at approx £750,000 from one post in 2011 I think, this was apparently the family home having been in the family for over 120 years.

LondonSu also has a father that lives in a Housing Association house and claims benefits such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Pension Credit. He has lived in this house for over 30 years.

LondonSu also has a father that gave up his Council House over 40 years ago to take up employment elsewhere that gave him free accommodation in a rural village.

LondonSu's husband also had a property left to him over 30 years ago by his grandfather, the Aunt still lived there the last post stated.

LondonSu and her husband also sold their flat in London, which, apparently from an earlier thread was unmortgageable and they then purchased, with cash, a property on the Isle of Wight.

LondonSu is a pillar of the community, hates when people try to scam the NHS or Dentists, thinks there are way too many scroungers on the system and, although in pain with her hands (as yet undiagnosed) does not want to claim benefits.

With a father that owns a few houses, a husband that owns a property and their own home, bought for cash, I am sure she does not need to claim benefits.

3 fathers? Wow, they can really do amazing things with Embryology and IVF.

Whilst not wishing to take sides here, but for the sake of objectivity, I can see no reason why these posts are conflicting. In one post she describes her parents, but in the other she simply describes "dad". She is married. It is far from uncommon to describe one's father in law as "dad" - many people do so. And what might have happened forty years ago doesn't make either of those scenarios impossible - 40 years ago social housing was easily available, many young people had it (i did, and shock, horror, my parents owned a house!) and having social housing fifty years ago doesn't preclude the family having a family home.

Just an observation.... I don't know whether Londonsu is telling the truth or not, but that's always the case. None of us know who is telling the truth and who isn't. How do you know that the person with five pages of advice on how to appeal their disability assessment is not actually hale and hearty and cheating the system?

And if you take the time to read the posts properly (if you so desire) you will note that her dad was found in the garden trying to dig up his late wife's ashes, hence 'parents' in one 'dad' in other, also she mentions her sister popping along to 'dads' ok some of us call our parents in law as mom or dad, I used to, but I don't know of many who call their brother and sister in laws brother and sister.

Totally agree with your other comments by the way.

I did read the posts thank you. But, as was pointed out on the other thread too, that doesn't mean much. People get divorced, remarry and so on. Really, there is no more reason to suspect that this very detailed post is made up you any more than any other. Given that is the case, why are people not gloating about everyone else who is in trouble? If they don't like her attitude on a subject, fine. We can all disagree. But that isn't a reason to refuse to help, it's a reason to stay out of it. If, like some, she was abusive or nasty about the advice given, then fair enough, pile in. But if someone really is facing an unwarranted eviction, shouldn't we have some sympathy for them?

I have read the other thread now, over on 'Housing & Benefits'.

I have to agree with sangie, in that we never do know if people are telling the truth or not, when they come on this forum with tales of woe - but, as another forum member has said, if they are asking people to give their time, trouble and possible expertise to give advice on something, you have to hope they are being truthful - and, if they are not, they deserve the opprobrium directed at them!

I think people are feeling miffed because LondonSu has always appeared to be such an expert on claiming State Benefits. She has not been asking advice, she has been freely dispensing it - with not a little criticism of those who get confused by it all!

On these two threads, though, LondonSu is asking for advice - and those of us who have spent (possibly wasted?) our time trying to understand it, in order to help if we can, instead have discovered that apparently all sorts of shenanigans have been going on, so that a family who seem extremely well off in terms of property and capital, can retain hold of a Housing Authority home in South London which could be worth a lot of money, both in rental, and if it was bought under Right to Buy. It also appears that, in order to validate that claim, other State Benefits have been claimed. By the bucketload.

I really don't think the overstretched London Councils would be going for a possession order unless they had provable evidence that something has been going on. And I don't think LondonSu's posts on here will help the cause one bit! They could be used as evidence too - I'm sure there is a frequent poster on here who is a Housing Benefit Officer.

If it's a wind up, or if LondonSu is a congenital liar, well I've just lost some of my time, and a bit of my patience :-) But if it is what it looks like - I think we should stop trying to help, and let the Authorities do what they have to do.

Last point to you on this matter, unfortunately LondonSu has been an aggressive poster when others have asked for help with benefits, she came across as extremely knowledgeable and very condescending. It is very easy to disagree and dislike 'posters'.

Have a nice day. Well said Lauretta by the way.

Quite clear on this thread that the 3/4 of a million house is Londonsu's family, not her husband.
My parents are in their 80s and although hale and hearty we have to face the fact that they may need residentail care at some point.

The house they live in has been in our family for over 120 years and I will inherit it on their death.

I have my own home paid for with no mortgage but it wont be worth as much as my parents home on the open market.

The question I have is that my parents have savings which they can use for care costs but if there is a shortfall, can I sell my own home to pay the costs and live in the family home.

We are close to each other so would it be best if we swapped homes, or would that be construed as my parents disposing of assets by the council.

We also want to ensure that one of the younger members of the family inherit the house after me.

I am hoping there is a way round this as this house is part of my family history and we will fight to keep it.

"I will inherit it ... part of my family history ..."

Clear elsewhere that she (also!) grew up in social housing.

If it was all a simple misunderstanding, she'd have come back and explained, wouldn't she?
