Hargreaves Lansdown closing fee?

Hi there. I used to live at home with my mum and was advised by someone to open an Hargreaves Lansdown account and I put all my savings in there. Moved home to live with my boyfriend and obviously I needed the money so tried to withdraw everything but couldn't, they want a £25 plus vat fee to close the account. I only have 50 in the account and am strapped for cash at the moment is there any chance I would be able to get my 50 quid that is in there without paying a fee? Is there any loop holes around this?
I have never properly used Hargreaves Lansdown as I was scared to use my savings.

Wow - sounds like spectacularly poor advice from someone there if you were going to need it all! I take it this was a friend or similar rather than an actual financial adviser or bank employee?Nicoledunne88 wrote: »was advised by someone to open an Hargreaves Lansdown account and I put all my savings in there.
Anyway, I'm afraid it looks like you're stuck with the exit fee - you could perhaps try a plea to their customer services team to let them know that it was all a big mistake. They'll be able to see that you never actually invested in anything (presumably) and might take pity on you, but it would need to be a goodwill gesture as the terms are on their side - no harm in asking but don't get your hopes up....0
