Morning all.
Bit of a late one from, I zoomed into town early to return a bag I bought two weeks ago as the zip was odd. Didn't replace it as I wasn't too fussed with it anyway. Picked up a packet of pencils and a brand new notebook / diary for the start of the academic year. :j. Love any excuse to buy new stationery.
Got some computing chores to do for DM and then we'll go for her docs appointment at 3pm.
Congratulations Jackie for her GGD.
Judi - have you got you hard hat on? Sounds an awful situation to be in.
My lovely SIL rang me from Melbourne this morning (whatsapp) for a long chat. She's had a tough year, what with her eldest son dying last March and her Dad going this April, yet she soldiers on. Whilst I'm not too fond of new age stuff she really is an inspiration for me.
Right, chores call. Happy Friday everyone.0 -
Morning all from a wet and windy Wales.
I had a rubbish nights sleep and was downstairs at 3am drinking tea. For some reason DH was dreaming and talking in his sleep, mainly about how he couldn't put the tent up properly. We don't even have a tent ! It was disturbing because he had sat up, turned to me with his eyes wide open and I thought he was awake. So as I didn't wake up till 10am, my day is going to be a catch up with myself day :rotfl:.
I have stripped the bed but can't wash it till tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be much better.
The DW has been emptied and refilled with the bowl of the halogen oven, I will wipe down the kitchen tops in a min. But first I need more coffee !!
DH is getting on my nerves this morning as everything I start to do, he takes over, then I have to redo it. I have used a small storage container for the scarves, gloves and hats and put them in the top of the wardrobe instead of the under stairs cupboard, because they keep attacking anyone who puts their coat in there. Started the job and DH appeared, took over. Started cleaning halogen same again, DH took over. Bet he won't take over remaking the bed or the ironing though
.
As there are a few on here having trouble with their men, could we please find somewhere to send them for rehabilitation :rotfl:
Jackie many congratulations, hope all goes well.
Judi hugs in between a rock and a hard place springs to mind. Hope youngest is ok after his op.
Gers a girl after my DD's heart re the stationery, always had to have new pens, pencils etc for the start of the new school term. She hasn't changed even though she's now the teacher !Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
I've calmed down a bit now but if hubby thinks I'm doing his breakfast today he can think again.
Ive just had a guided tour of Adonis's caravan....Very Bohemian and not enough room to swing a cat. He was just finishing a work out. He's got a bench press and full set of weights outside and was working out in the rain.
Those of you with caravans, have you seen those blow up awnings? They don't look very strong in the wind. I'll stick to our Isabella thanks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I used to cater for garden open days when we lived in Scotland. I started baking in January for the June open day and froze cakes and scones, it was the only way to cope with 200+ customers over the day. I also baked meringues and sealed them in a tin, they kept perfectly. We always had to keep the meringues until after lunch, the queue used to be out the door.
The opening under the garden scheme was only an afternoon, but never the less, as soon as the June open day was over, I started for the September day and then for the 'friends of the garden' Christmas party. Mince pies keep really well again sealed in a tin. Sausage rolls thawed and then baked in the oven on the day always went down well.
Over the years people started queuing at the gates half an hour before the garden opened and we were rushed off our feet until the garden closed. There were never any left overs, people bought anything that was left......... I retired after 9 years when we moved down to Hampshire to take over two houses and cook for dinner parties.0 -
Good afternoon everyone, thanks to Holly for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs one.
Judi- hope the op goes ok
Jackie - lovely news re the baby
On the subject of babies, I've been watching "Highland Midwives" on My5 plenty of awww moments! One of my few regrets in life was that I didn't persue my little girl dream of becoming a midwife so I love programmes like that.
It's chilly and very breezy here today so I'll get well buffeted when I head to the Drs later, hopefully it will stay dry though.
LO lasagne for lunch, like lots of things while it was lovely yesterday it tastes even better today.
I hope everyone has a good day x0 -
I managed to sort out a load of dry laundry and unload and reload the dishwasher this morning. Had fish with salad for lunch and set off to get the bus to York to meet dd.
I waited for over an hour with no sign of the bus and got rained onso eventually got a pint of milk and some bread at the local shop and then phoned dd to explain and arrange something for next week.
Jackie O
Congratulations on your good news. :j Hope everything goes well.
Judi
I hope the operation went well and that you hear from your son soon.
Have marinated chicken and actifry chips planned for tonight unless I decide to throw caution to the winds and make a sausage sarnie instead.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

Good afternoon everyone :hello:
Thank you for all the hugs, they were very much needed and appreciated. Things have settled for a bit hopefully as she is trying out some new meds. They make her sleep for 12 hours a night so at least she is getting some much needed rest.
I went off with my lovely cmht lady to Exeter hospital for my dental appointment this morning. I had two teeth removed and it went well although I am very sore now. I have plenty of pain relief in and Steve has promised to cook tea tonight so I can rest. I still have a few more visits planned to sort out the rest of my teeth but hopefully the worst is over.
I'm very tired so I will sign off for now. Hope you all have a great evening whatever you have planned, take care xx0 -
Judi - I seen my friend with one first. It's really needless technology but it's to aid hygiene. You just over over it and the lid opens.
Dumpling - Hope you feel better soon
Just realised I forgot to take more meat out the bloody freezer. Damn it!!0 -
Congratulations Jackie, wonderful newsIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0
