I am trying to get rid of all my paperwork by scanning.
Is there anyway to link the scanned paperwork to an excel document?
E.g. I have lists of repairs to various properties I own. Each property has a schedule of repairs for a given year. Underneath that schedule are the scanned receipts.
Is it possible to,say, click on a cell beside an item on the schedule which would take you to the scanned document?

Inserting a hyperlink sounds like what you want to me. It depends on what version of Excel you're running to say exactly where to find it.0

You can do it from the 'Ribbon' using the Insert Hyperlink option (although as stated that will depend on the version of Excel you're using).
Or you can insert them by entering a formula like this, where FilePath is the path to the document
file:///{Filepath}
So for instance if one of your receipts was a PDF in this folder:
C:\PropertyInfo\1 Acacia Avenue\2017\6\NewGuttering.pdf
Then the link to enter in the cell would be
file:///C:\PropertyInfo\1 Acacia Avenue\2017\6\NewGuttering.pdf
Normally it will convert itself into a hyperlink when you press return.
Again, I'm not sure how far back this will work in terms of versions of Excel.0 -
Insert Hyperlinks (by that name) is a feature since Office 2007. The feature as such has been around since Excel 2000 but before 2007 it was slightly more complicated.0

Lots of options to =HYPERLINK

If you include the scanned images in the Excel file it will quickly become a very large file and possibly slow to open or update. Probably better to scan all your receipts etc as PDFs and do a hyperink to the PDF file.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Another method, that I find easier, is to right click on a cell & choose Hyperlink from there. Then fill in the blanks.0
