So we’ve waited patiently all week with no update from the solicitors to say if Friday (tomorrow) would go ahead as our exchange and completion date.
I’m going to phone them in the morning and get an update 🤞
I'm in a similar position. Supposed to exchange tomorrow (completing next week) but have heard nothing from the sellers' solicitor since my solicitor confirmed the contract and deposit were ready to go. EA confirmed on Monday that the sellers (and their sellers) want to exchange tomorrow.  My solicitor and the EA were chasing today but I still haven't heard anything.

It’s so frustrating isn’t it! It’s like a rollercoaster ride.
Best of luck for you, I hope you manage to exchange tomorrow still. 🤞

Hope your exchange is going better than mine!

Got a call from the estate agent this morning saying my solicitors told him they were waiting for something from me, or there was an outstanding enquiry. Eh, what?!! Rang them, the didn't say anything of the sort. While I had asked for a copy of the original deeds on Monday, I said it was a nice to have and I didn't want it to hold up exchange. My solicitor told the seller's solicitor on Wednesday that we were ready for Friday. I gave her my signed contract, mortgage deed and 10% deposit first thing Wednesday morning.

Estate agent said he'd chase. I've heard nothing since 10am. My solicitor finishes work in an hour.

Received the contract to sign today, exciting! Starting to believe I might be in by Christmas after all, although annoyingly looks like I'm going to miss my 15th of the month deadline for giving notice on my rental this month as the sellers are waiting for final searches to come back next week before they'll be ready to exchange. But hey, I'll take a month of rental overlap if needed. In the grand scheme of buying a house that's relatively low down the list of possible issues...
Agreed today for exchange on Monday for completion 9th December! Finally all happening! 🤩🤩🤩
  • We exchanged and completed today! Feeling really sad as we don’t really want to leave but glad it’s over. Now onto selling my mum’s and buying our house together! This was supposed to be the easy one!!

After chasing all day I finally find out there are several enquiries outstanding on my seller's onward purchase. Really annoyed nobody let me know until the proposed day of exchange was nearly over. The silence was deafening.
Hopefully we can exchange next week.

Was one of those drainage? According to my solicitor, searches were instigated 15th September, but there are ‘delays’ with drainage. Still waiting.
We are in the same position, I have been waiting since 23 October for the water and drainage search. I called the water company and they said their turnaround is 5 days but no idea what the hold up is! How long have people been waiting for this search?
I did this today! Southern Water told me the same. ‘Oh, speak to your solicitor, maybe more info was required? Turnaround, even in current conditions shouldn’t be this long...’ GREAT
So apparently the sellers have been paying the WRONG water company for 2 years which is why the drainage search was taking so long. Not sure what next steps are but I am being reassured it is being ‘handled’ by EA but solicitor says ‘this may take a while for them to sort’

How do you pay the wrong water company?? Are the on the border of two providers or something?
I thought was bad that my seller thought the local water only company also dealt with their sewage.

Oh no!! That’s so frustrating for you 😭
I really hope it’s all sorted quickly for you and you can exchange and complete next week.

I spoke to our solicitor today who said everything is almost ready to go, they’re waiting for my Lifetime ISA funds to hit their account (which should be Tuesday) and then we can exchange and complete, hopefully by the end of next week!
Also spoke to the estate agent who was in contact with the sellers solicitor about a missing item of documentation, which I think has now been sorted... But the lack of communication between the two worries me a little!!
