I did and they said they will refund it but that was a week ago. Also the seller's solicitor is waiting for a side letter from our mortgage lender even though the lender already gave us the funds. Seems to me they are delaying something.0

I'll be ten months in to the process on Xmas Day ... and no closer to the holy grail of exchange!!Save £12k in 2022 #54 reporting for duty0 -
Still not exchanged, so the plan is to exchange and complete tomorrow
I'm told the lenders to the bottom of the chain will be releasing their funds first thing in the morning, fingers crossed!
So this did happen in the end but not without further mither!
Thursday 19th
0830 removal company arrived to pack up our house. Still no contracts exchanged at this point.
1000 solicitor rang to say the bottom of the chain had their money confirmed so contracts would now be exchanged, and completed later in the day - yay!
1130 removal van getting rather full and I dont think everything is going to fit...
1200 removal van (same company) arrives with the stuff of the new owners. Its the owner of the company in the van, says the new owners have been told they can have the keys, can he drop their stuff off in the house and then use the empty van to take the rest of our stuff. Says we can be fined for not being out of the house by 1300, so I reluctantly agree to help smooth things along.
1300 speak to solicitors, there has been a problem with one of the mortgages and actually they shouldn't have exchanged contracts! Keys have definitely not been handed over to the new owners either. So the removal man lied to make his life easier  They are told to stop moving any more of the new owners stuff in
1500 solicitors say the issue is resolved so we can continue the loading/unloading. We are still in our old house at this time. No way am I leaving it (rightly or wrongly) until I have keys to my new place - I have a family with 2 young children and am not being left with nowhere to sleep.
1630 finally completed so left our old house!
1930 removal men finished unloading at new house. Charged us 2 hours extra labour for the pleasure. They also didn't finish moving everything, said they would go back the next day to pick them up. I didn't believe them so I had to go back with my car to grab the last few boxes.
What...a...day!0 -

14th Oct - first offer made, and rejected
15th Oct - second offer made and accepted
23rd Oct - second solicitor instructed
30th Oct - searches begin
4th Nov - surveyor bill paid
14th Nov - survey was meant to be done
19th Nov - survey done
25th Nov - survey results received
25th Nov - results from all searches received. Just a few more questions for the vendors
To date - still waiting for the vendors to answer questions!!!!! I'm at the stage now where I truly don't care anymore about boiler services, rights-of-way, the mysterious "problem that happened about 16 years ago" or indeed anything else. Just let me give them my money so I can move!
Updating this: FINALLY got answers from vendors (who'd gone on holiday, and then I dunno, died?) on 20th December. Of course, that's when the solicitor closes down for their Christmas/NY holiday so they send me an email confirming everything will be ready for signature on 2nd January.
Sure enough, I've just received the paperwork (3rd Jan) and if I push, we can exchange early next week and complete either end of next week or beginning of the week after. BUT: while the vendors were a dithering, another property came on the market mid-December. I've just been to see it. I like it. Do I pull out of this purchase now or go ahead? Aaaaaaaaarrrrggghhhhhhhh!!!0 -

I was nowhere near as far down the process as you when I pulled out of my sale, but so glad I did. The second property will suit me so much better and there's so much more potential. I guess slot depends on how long-term a move it is. If you're planning on living there for 10 years + then the additional 3-6 months at this point arguably isn't that big a deal, if it's a more short-term purchase, you may decide it's just not worth starting the process again.May'18 DEBT FREE!

Early phone call this am from my solicitor who asked for Completion date again - I agreed 6th Jan, he then said he'd do the exchange today, once the HA's solicitors had agreed completion with them.
Got a call from the HA chasing an update from me. I gave them the latest and they said once they receive an email from their solicitors with the completion date, they'll approve immediately.
4pm and no news. Call my solicitor, and he says he's still waiting on the HA's response from this am! So i then call the HA and ask them to contact their solicitor, as they reveal they've yet to hear from their solicitor:(
Another day, no exchange! Praying for tomorrow! Likely too late for today. All this chasing is exhausting in itself, let alone the anxiety of the wait in between updates.
I appreciate how busy solicitors will be this time of year but gahhhhhhh
Update
We finally exchanged on the 18th and completion is due today :j
I've had word from my solicitors that they've asked their completions team to send funds to the sellers solicitors at around 9.30am so now I'm just waiting to hear.
I'm so anxious.
Edit
Just got a text confirming the funds have been sent to the sellers solicitors ... Eek0 -
With the budget being announced for 11th March, is anyone else considering delaying completion in case there's a Stamp Duty cut?May'18 DEBT FREE!
