14th June - Valuation took place
18th June - Valuation accepted
20th June - requested bank statements
20th June - Instructed a solicitor
26th June - Mortage offer issued.
29th June - Solicitor receives the draft contract, Searches begins
9th July - Still waiting for Searches. Solicitor said should be 13th at the latest.
Vender and I really want to move the start of next month.. Just can't see it happing... Can anyone tell me how far we are away?
Then as your solicitor didn't receive anything from the vendor's solicitor until 29th June effectively the entire month of June has been wasted in terms of getting any of the conveyancing dealt with.0 -
Thanks LittleLu33.
Hers was a particularly complicated onward as it was leasehold and the management company were dire! Fingers crossed for you!0 -
I feel like I can join this thread now, although it's still early days.

20/06/18 Accepted an offer on our house
09/07/18 Valuation on our house
17/07/18 Had our offer accepted on new house
18/07/18 Homebuyers survey completed on our house0 -
Stiillll waiting, given up trying to predict when things will happen now.0

Finally got some details on where the chain is at.
There's 4 properties in the chain so it's not that long but there's been so much drama.
We're FTB and have been ready to exchange since April, our seller (seller 1) is still waiting on one enquiry, their seller (seller 2) had the survey for their purchase on Monday, and the mortgage valuation is tomorrow. Seller 3 is ready to exchange on their purchase which is end of chain.
Seller 2 has pulled out of 2 previous properties so fingers crossed this one goes through, working on how long it took us to get all our paperwork done and ready for exchange I think we're looking at August 16th at the earliest.
We have to exchange and complete before September 10th (our mortgage offer expires then) so hopefully no one has any holidays booked (wishful thinking) and we'll be able to move in beginning of September.0 -

Nothing to do with solicitors or mortgage companies, but a situation where a new build house has no 10 year warranty (underwriter went bankrupt at the beginning of May). Brokers haven't sorted alternative cover out yet, developers are now looking at other providers but overall it's just taking soooooo long!
A cash buyer is buying my flat and I'm moving to a new build - so a very short chain. Would have thought it should be simple but no!
Sorry if this sounds a bit ranty just getting so fed up, without this I would have moved last week if not the week before.
There are specialist independent insurance brokers in construction warranties who can help! If you need a name then let me know....0 -
We're in what feels like the final steps of our first purchase, and frankly I can't wait to get it over the line. I don't think it has been a particularly challenging purchase in comparison to some on here, but the stress of it all is beginning to get to me.
For what it is worth, this is our timeline so far:
30/05/2018: First meeting with mortgage broker / AIP
09/06/2018: Viewing on property
09/06/2018: First offer
11/06/2018: Offer rejected; improved offer accepted
14/06/2018: Solictor instructed
20/06/2018: Appointment with Mortgage Broker
21/06/2018: Mortgage application submitted (HSBC)
02/07/2018: Mortgage valuation completed
11/07/2018: Mortgage offer accepted
09/07/2018: HomeBuyers Report completed
16/07/2018: EICR completed following concerns in the survey
Currently reading through all the paperwork and contracts with a view to complete in the next week, and a targeted completion date of 3rd August.0 -
Ah, just heard from the estate agent - after pushing for a very early end of June exchange (5 weeks after putting offer on), then insisting they would NEED an end of July date they have now suggested mid/late August. I give up! I suspect it will be end of August now. Big sigh.“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex
Wonderfully unfathomable, natural world” Tim Minchin0 -
I've had the local search back now and just waiting for the enquiries to be satisfied. Then it sounds like we will go into the solicitors to sign everything we have and she'll exchange when the vendors are ready too.
I'm not sure how things are going with our vendors purchase, but I haven't had any exchange or completion dates discussed yet so perhaps i'm getting ahead of myself thinking we could be close (the vendors are going on holiday soon so I'll at least have to wait til they return I imagine!)
Just keep praying it all holds good - lots of appliances in our rental are going squiffy, lots of issues with it, and I just want to leave now!0 -
