    @jonners666 & @ohdarn - hope you both get some news and progress soon. It's soul-sapping isn't it?!
    Yep!

    We're not in a huge rush to move, but our seller has been really snippy about delays from our buyer - so I'm quite happy it's now her purchase that's delaying us (in a way)

    Our solicitors have generously offered that we may pay an "urgency premium" of £400 + VAT should we want them to hurry along the parts of the process that are within their control, anyone got any thoughts on this?

    'For the low low price of £400 (plus VAT), we'll do the job you're paying us to do.
    But properly.'
    Yeah this is the thing that's !!!!!! me off a little, given that it is the searches that seem to be holding things up, surely we're not getting much at all for my £500 once the searches are applied for?!
  • Can anyone explain how exchange works? Do we need to call our solicitor or do we wait and they call us?

    This whole process feels like it’s the unknown.
  • Also we need to get building insurance before/by the time we exchange, however it’s already been moved once. If we buy it now and it moves again then we are insuring someone else’s house? It’s all so confusing. I think next time a gap between exchange and completion would be less stressful.

    What is supposed to happen is the solicitor at the bottom starts it off and calls their client - approval to exchange then goes up the chain to the top, and back down to the bottom.

    Although for us it has now twice gone up to the top and the top have then done nothing at all

    Thankyou, we are the bottom.

    We didn’t even know we were in a chain until four weeks ago.

    Bottom of chain still waiting for searches..... Sigh.

    Probably mid May completion...nearly a year after going on the market. My mortgage offer runs out in June so what seemed like nothing to worry about is starting to slightly bubble under the surface 😂
