If neither of you want Virgin surely the best thing is to do as iniltous said and cancel now with both of you paying £94 each instead of continuing this arrangement for another 9 months.
Get shot of Virgin and the ex and close the joint account.

Although he may not want virgin, I'm sure he wants broadband, which is worth at least £30 a month, which he should pay

I bet he is using it!

But if you don't want to talk to him...

Well, it looks like they are about to put their prices up again, if true that will be your way out...

I do hope this is true as I am moving to a new build estate soon and they have not bothered to cable the place up (even though it's in the same town and they serve everywhere else) - what are they going to do, wait a year or so then come along and mangle up the nice new pavements lol.

Never mind, BT are in with FTTP so that will have to do.

After writing to them, I have now received a response which states they have listened to the call (again) and there was 'no clear indication of a new contract' mentioned to me so I can cancel with no ETC.

So whoever I spoke to last week blatantly lied to me when he said it was clearly stated on the phone call and I verbally agreed.Took 4 phone calls and a letter (a lot of stress and anxiety) to resolve this, I imagine many would have given up or paid, disgusting behavior from Virgin. I'll be taking it further.
