You started off ok but you don't seem to get what I said dept of works and pensions knew there was £45.000 they made the error when they wrote the letter to me which they should not have done .The probate form was done correctly I am nowwaiting for them to reply to my letter and say they made a mistake and say sorry

Thanks. Can you bear with me while I check a couple of things with you? I'm just trying to make sure I understand the facts properly.

They have made an error when they wrote to you. What was the error? What did they say in the letter?

And did you explain to them that you had overestimated the money when you filled in the probate form? I ask that because that might be part of the problem. Or it might not.

Yes every body was told of my friends death the day he died dept of works and pensions they know.

Not possible. You can't obtain a Death Certificate until you have a medical certificate from a hospital/GP notifying the government of the death. This normally takes 3 days (longer if the coroner was involved).

To say it's impossible is inaccurate. There are some circumstances where both the medical certificate and the death certificate will be issued on the day of death, if possible, depending on the time of death. For example, those of faiths where the custom is to have burial within 24 hours of the death.

And I think OP will possibly have been referring to close family and friends - notifying them on day of death is perfectly normal.

However, it's not relevant to the difficulty OP is trying to sort out - probate has been granted so we're long past getting death certificate etc.

he was paid monthly, with no option for weekly.

There was and is an option to be paid weekly )- I have two relatives who reached SPA around the same time as your husband and are paid weekly in arrears) but it is not offered - you must specifically request it.

Didn't the OP post her friend had £45,000 in savings?

    The OP said
he had £45.000 in savings how does he stand

    thanks

Note the full stop rather than comma.....

Did the deceased have forty five thousand pounds or forty five pounds?

The OP goes on to say
Im having problems with this the dept of pensions they want the amount you put on the probate form.

.Probate has been done I over estimated because you don't know how much they have in banks till you collect their funds.Im having problems with this the dept of pensions they want the amount you put on the probate form
The probate form was done correctly
They know how much money he has then I get a letter yesterday asking me why have I put zero funds on probate form

I am not surprised that there is confusion on the board and at the DWP.

OP, if your friend had (or you thought he had) no money at all, why did you think you needed to obtain probate?

Or did he own a property?

You are wrong I emailed the dept of works and pension the day he died but the next day I pick up the death cert and went to registry office to register his death once I did that I could go to his bank to collect his money cause I had the legal right to do that.
