Dashcam: do you have one fitted in your vehicle?

I got one after a foreign (LHD) lorry changed lanes on a dual carriageway while I was alongside, and scraped the whole nearside of my car.
Fortunately it stopped and my car was still driveable. I was told that if it wasn't for the low mileage, my car would have been written off.
Need to chase my insurance, again, because they've let it drag on and haven't recovered my excess.
Haven't had any incidents, since, but did share a clip online of a lorry that pulled out at a roundabout, and sent a clip to a company to show one of their vans with a faulty light..0 -
not me personally but family has a classic car, and has one fitted in that and one in his daily driver, both hardwired in, so no trailing 12v cables, and comes on with ignition.
havent had to use them for any claims etc but have had a couple of "wow did you see what he just did up ahead, coulda caused an accident" type moments, and would be willing to help out where could using the footage.
i do disagree with the whole FB / youtube groups popping up "bad drivers" etc and someone privacy being invaded and posted online for others to mock etc.0 -
NoNot got one but wish I had that constantly recorded even when parked up.
Incident in a car park a few months ago where another car hit ours whilst parked up has resulted in a £2k insurance claim that so far we haven't got settled. CCTV footage has showed the car that was parked there but not the actual incident and no joy in the 3rd party insurer responding yet.
Pretty much guarantee our next car will have one installed.0 -
Yes - I fitted itabout two years ago i was on the motorway and a flatbed transit decided he was going to undertake me trying to carve me up and push in from the middle lane he got it wrong and hit my wing mirror luckly for me that was the only damage just scratches on the end of the can and the mirror folded in.
i had my wife in the car the car this guy getting abusive etc anyway i left it and sent him on his way.
i had at the time being umming and urring to by a front and rear cam system which i got off ebay after this major hassle and no proof.
now camera system is built into the central mirror and i have the in built screen left on all the time now and the results have been brillant.
tailgating virutally gone, people pushing in on me from behind gone and i beileve is due to this mirror cam.
people don't know am i an unmarked police car?
there not sure and 9 times out of ten, i'm left lots of extra room.
the question becomes to the others "is it worth the risk?"
best £30 i ever spent life is so much more comfortable on the roads even in traffic jams!
and that is saying something
my advice go buy one but get one inbuilt in an over mirror people are not sure:rotfl:
oh and since getting mine had to fit 2 others in my parents car and her parents car and they noticed the same results as me.
such as one below that type of thing
hope it helps

NoI have noticed a lot of dash cam footage on youtube tagged as showing "poor driving" but in most cases it simply highlights the poor driving of the dashcam owner.0

I can't see how you having a dashcam makes others drive better, I can see how you having a dashcam makes you drive better though.about two years ago i was on the motorway and a flatbed transit decided he was going to undertake me trying to carve me up and push in from the middle lane he got it wrong and hit my wing mirror luckly for me that was the only damage just scratches on the end of the can and the mirror folded in.

Yes - I fitted itThe best £60 i have ever spent- brings peace of mind motoring and certainly makes driving more relaxed knowing i have irrefutable evidence should anything happen. Prompted to buy one after a colleague was hit whilst stationary and had issues proving he was the innocent party.0

Yes - I fitted itYes, a dual camera set up (front and rear). Installed it myself, I'm a taxi driver and have had cameras in my cars for over six years, never had to use it, I would say "if you haven't got one , get one"0

I'd believe it's down to you imagining it. How do you think people know you have a dash cam ?
Why do they think you / parents have an unmarked police car ? Do they drive alongside your cars and peek at your rear view mirror ?
How come others with dash cams( such as me) haven't noticed this effect ?0
