Shotgun Stories
Upon hearing that their estranged father has recently kicked the bucket, three deadbeat Southern siblings named Son, Boy and Kid decide, for posterity's sake, to gatecrash his funeral and remind the congregation of his no-good, drunken ways. The kids from his loving second marriage don't take to kindly to these allegations, however, and a petty regime of tit-for-tat violence plays out on the barren Arkansan plains. Jeff Nichols’ slow-paced and ironically funny tale of revenge gone wrong shows the brutal cause and effect of violent retribution and the ramifications of the decision to take matters of family pride one step too far.

EMPIRE COMPETITION:
Answer: Ben Barnes
Win Tickets To The UK
Premiere Of The Chronicles
Of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Meet the stars on the red carpet...
To celebrate the release of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, we’ve teamed up with Disney to give one lucky winner (plus 3 friends or family) the chance to attend the movie's UK premiere at the 02 Arena on June 19 - plus the chance to meet the stars themselves!
The groundbreaking event will be the UK’s biggest ever film premiere - screening to an audience of 10,000 - and is being held in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Liam Neeson, Ben Barnes, Anna Popplewell, William Moseley , Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley and the film's director Andrew Adamson will all be attending and, for the first time ever, technicians will install a giant cinema screen into The O2 arena in London.
Based on the much-loved series of books by CS Lewis, Prince Caspian is the second instalment from The Chronicles Of Narnia and is set to feature more battle scenes and even better special effects than before.
The film also sees the introduction of a whole series of new characters including the swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep (voiced by Eddie Izzard), the Red Dwarf Trumpkin (played by Peter Dinklage), the suspicious Black Dwarf Nikabrik (played by Warwick Davis), the faithful badger Trufflehunter (voiced by veteran TV actor Ken Stott) and Prince Caspian himself (played by Ben Barnes).
The film is set 12 months after the end of the last movie which is 1,300 years in Narnia time. Audiences should brace themselves to be gripped by a rip-roaring, swashbuckling journey into a land of make-believe.

Super is as super does: Finally, the guys behind the outrageously silly "Scary Movie" franchise have used their own 'special powers' to spoof superhero movies. After being bitten by a genetically altered dragonfly, high school loser Rick Riker develops superhuman abilities like incredible strength and armoured skin. Rick decides to use his new powers for good and becomes a costumed crime fighter known as "The Dragonfly." However, standing in the way of his destiny is the villainous Lou Landers. After an experiment gone wrong, Lou develops the power to steal a person's life force and in a dastardly quest for immortality becomes the super villain, "The Hourglass." With unimaginable strength, unbelievable speed and deeply uncomfortable tights, will the Dragonfly be able to stop the sands of The Hourglass and save the world? More importantly, will we stop laughing long enough to notice?[Member #28 in Free Film Previews Club - 7 Films seen in 2008 ] [ 1 Films seen in 2009] :cool:0 -

He is forced to confront the people he hurt, trying to find out which one is seeking revenge on him. While Sam tries to cope with the effect his actions had on the people he knew, he finds himself being hunted by a group of young thugs, who seem to be following the same path that Sam did in the past – but who are they and why are they hunting him?
Sam’s first day of freedom will be one he never forgets and as important in his life as the one that lost him his freedom in the first place. Sam is about to go from Kidulthood to Adulthood, if he survives…

Mongol - The Rise to Power of Ghengis Kan
Wednesday 21 May 2008, 8.45pm
Award-winning Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov (Prisoner of the Mountains) illuminates the life and legend of Genghis Khan in his stunning historical epic, MONGOL- THE RISE TO POWER OF GENGHIS KHAN. Based on leading scholarly accounts, MONGOL- THE RISE TO POWER OF GENGHIS KHAN delves into the dramatic and harrowing early years of the ruler who was born as Temudgin in 1162. As it follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his destiny, the film paints a multidimensional portrait of the future conqueror, revealing him not as the evil brute of hoary stereotype, but as an inspiring, fearless and visionary leader. MONGOL - THE RISE TO POWER OF GENGHIS KHAN shows us the making of an extraordinary man, and the foundation on which so much of his greatness rested: his relationship with his wife, Borte, his lifelong love and most trusted advisor.
