I was given a new printer (HP laserjet P1102) well over two years ago, but never bothered to add it to my computer, as I already had a working printer.
I have recently bought a new desktop computer, Windows 10 but I am not able to install the printer.
I tried the CD which came with the printer, but the install just seems to be in a loop and never ends.
I went on HP website but there doesn't seem to be drivers for 64 bit Window 10 computers
Am I now stuck with an unused printer ?
thank you

Should work; goto Printers and Scanners and remove any printer that looks like P1102; switch computer off; connect printer to computer (USB or by Ethernet via router);
Restart computer. If it doesn't find the printer, drivers are here

You quite clearly didn't look hard for drivers.
From their support page:

Select the operating system Windows 10 x64 which leads you to this file.

Because backing up a PC, installing a completely alien operating system and then trying to find alternatives for the software you used to use because there isn't a Linux version just because you need to download a driver is such a sensible idea isn't it?
Anyway it isn't actually a given that that printer has support in Linux beyond basic PCL4/5/6 functionality. In fact its status is on the Linux Foundation website is: "works Mostly".
I'm fast coming to the conclusion that you actually know very little about Linux and your sum total ability is that you once shoved in an install disc in for Linux Mint and somehow managed to get it to work, you've then spent too much time on Linux advocacy lunatic forums and seem to think it is fit to post the kind of responses they dish out on a forum like this.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm puzzled, I have a P2015n which is quite a bit older than the P1102 and it installed easily on my Windows 10 Laptop and also on my iMac and Macbook Pro both of which have the latest OSI hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

One thing i do like about windows 10. So far everything i have plugged in had drivers install and works.
I hate the not knowing when its going to install the next update. Right in the middle of something and its churning away. Or i goto switch it off and it says do not switch off installing.... NOOOoo i need to switch it off NOW...Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I have one of these. You are supposed to install it with the usb cable first. Mine has worked fine when being asked to print from windows 8/10/apple devices/linuxFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Of course, it is consuming power whilst it is running, also leaves it open to malware attacks if left on overnight/fully unattended. We never leave computers on when not in use, but then we use them only for a limited time during the day.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

No more than at any other time. They don't suddenly become more open to being attacked just because they're left ticking over. In fact the time it faces the highest risk of being attacked by malware is when you're actually using it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
