I had a naughty order of a CD and a present for my friend.
Realised I needed to order a present for my friend's little girl.
Pants.
I am freezing.
work has sucked. And I don't know what to do. Well ever since my old boss left I knew I wouldn't last long. So the search for a new job or different job begins.
But then I think again about the kids. They are really good. But I suppose they always are.
too much for Thursday Night.
and I think the dog has just gone to wee in the kitchen. Awesome.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Evening all,
Standard weekend, nothing good, nothing so bad. Didn't go out tho and didn't go to the cinema during the week either. We both had to mark.
house is a disaster. This Kon maring thing I am only half doing has made the place look like a hoarder lives here.
Half -arsed plans - to go to Florida for Christmas.
Would have to be done on the CC ( I know more debt!) but I want mum and I to enjoy life and have something to look forward to. It is only half arsed as in thought about it today after an honest conversation with Mum.
I should be able to pay off 325 plus 500 this month, which would make me 4155 in debt.
4155 / 6 = 692 a month.
Still a bit much to pay off quickly.
Got to make an effort to sell everything. And save the rest.
Oh and I bought some fish... BUT I am going to reuse the stuff I have here to house them.
I resisted buying a new tank, a new filter, and found the cheapest deal for them.
I resisted a few things actually. The scary thing is I can't remember any of them........so clearly really really wanted them.
Fish are coming on Thursday. I am working Wednesday. thrilling week.
ooo update on "emergency fund"
I have two accounts that I move my "spare change" into - anything less that fiver goes in, I have 231 in one account and 96.10 in the other (327.10) so that is my emergency fund. It was meant to be my fun money. But reality is definitely biting!

Hmm been a funny old week.
Work was awful, behaviour is not managed in any great way and the person in charge o behaviour believes EVERY single sob story going so children are getting away with a lot.
And yes I am fully aware that many children have many issues but one tried to head butt a teacher Friday and the reply was well.....he missed so he won't be punished. He didn't miss, two other kids got in the way!
We had our pay review letters and I have a pay rise. About 270...
This has created a bit of a dilemma for me as being paid that for the next two years would be VERY helpful. I get the feeling behaviour is !!!! everywhere. At least here I don't have huge issues yet, have always been super strict and tad sarcastic so I have a rep but......... 1. That won't last with dipstick in charge, 2. It doesn't transfer.
After the week before this my resignation was printed and ready to go. Now I am like..........hmmm. I may not get paid this elsewhere and starting again......for less??
I have until Easter to decide.
Oh and car insurance is so expensive. Paid for it with my wages but takes away the money for the CC debt. Which is a !!!!!! frankly. If that debt was gone I wouldn't worry so much about leaving my job. Tho I guess brexit has me worried too. I guess I should stick with security such as it is.
I have paid into my penny a day account, the rest of the 300ish savings will be paid on the 1st. Trying to learn from SA and stick to a system.
I should be ok this month money wise. Worried sick about Mum. She is on her own a lot. Forgets stuff. Does stupid stuff involving ladders.
I am feeling better than I was at Christmas. Not worked out a way forward as such. But am ok. I love my dogs.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Great news on the pay rise
Not so good about the kids' behaviour though. I've said this before but have you considered the civil service, they are crying out for people like you and it's a rewarding job for those who are prepared to work (not that I'm biased
) Take a look on Civil Service Jobs website, see if anything takes your fancy.
Anyway, I'm glad I got you thinking about an emergency fund and a system xx
Take care Buffster xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hope your Mum is ok, sounds a bit worrying.
Did you ever get anything sorted with your sisters about what happens to the house if your mum needs to go into care? I'm not sure how it works with selling the property for care fees if you're living in it but not on the deeds. It's something we've had to think about as this house is in DHs name only (mortgage is in his name only as he could get a first time buyers rate) and I can't go on the deeds unless I'm added to the mortgage which I can't do because we can't apply for a new mortgage as our finances have changed. We are going to downsize next year to solve the issue but if anything happens in the mean time and full time care home is required then I'm basically homeless...which is worrying."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Basically.........and it isn't pretty. Mum says she would rather be dead then in a home so won't deal with it as as she woon't deal with any of it and my sisters assume as with everything I would be alright! as I always am. If i am completely honest this is why i am trying to get rid of everything I own and make sure when I have to leave it will be as easy as possible. Also another reason why I don't want to quit my job and go for something less well paid or less stable. Also for all their faults they are understanding of various situations for staff.
Middle sister has almost washed her hands of mum - understandably as her partner is now her only concern, eldest has a mantra of life is hard and we will get through cos the Lord will provide...(via my mum, via me I presume). The animals and I would be homeless. This is the fate facing my friend - "her" (dad's) house is being sold out from under her to pay his equity loan and she has no rights at all. she has about 6 months and will have to give up her animals. That breaks my heart. I rationally manage without the animals, but the dogs especially are my lifeline and comfort. It would be awful.
So yes. Highly sucky to say the least! It is strange, until all this with my BIL Mum was brilliant but I think the constant strain of hospital and visits and lifts and just extreme Mum worry broke her. She was amazing during that time really but now has very little left.
One side bar question, If I bought a flat via a loan, would that exclude me from first time buyer mortgages? Is it the first time having of the property or the first time having a mortgage??Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
I think it’s a first time buyer rather than a holder of a mortgage. I think I may have mentioned before that adults living in and contributing to a property have some protection. It might be an NI legal thing but it could be worth getting legal advice.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. I found that article and I don't meet the criteria, so ermmm. Yeah. I don't think I would or even should get any protection, as I am of sound mind, have a job etc. Don't get me wrong I do I feel it is unfair as I have contributed to the house and lost the opportunity to buy a house due to "renting" and looking after mum but as Mum only thinks we will all inherit and refuses to think of anything else and the law is as it is I will be homeless. my own stupid fault. I was talking to my friend the other night and she was right when she said I never made the decision to stay with Mum it just happened. And here we are.Nevertheless she persisted.0
