    Good point thank you.

Perfectly normal to have a business and retail website.

    Dell Inspiron 1545

You missed this thread: Dell Inspiron 1545 image please

That machine is perfectly capable of running Windows 7. You can upgrade it for free, but you'll need to run a clean install.
If the device itself is in good condition, upgrading the RAM to 4GB and fitting an SSD will transform the performance of the machine. RAM upgrade perhaps £20. SSD perhaps £50.
    All very easy to do.

What is the Service Tag or Express Code? It's written on the underside.

I think you are ABOLSUTELY RIGHT to be concerned, if a company says they are a TRADE ONLY supplier and that you must accept those terms, they are effectively taking away your consumer rights.

I never like them because they quote prices net of VAT and Delivery, certain people will jump on me for backing you on this, but you have given me even more reason to not trust them.

This is a money saving site for consumers so I am really grateful that you took the time to read their terms and inform this community of the risks of dealing with MCS.

As for Dell, they have a HOME section and a Business Section on the Dell Outlet site.

    .

As for MCS, they have a HOME section; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/MCS-TECHNOLOGY-LTD

    and a Business Section; http://mcscom.co.uk

and just like the Dell Outlet, a consumer can choose to buy from either.

Dell Outlet quotes ex VAT on both Home and Business. Why have you not complained about that practice?

Yes thank you for your help, I thought my old laptop was a bit fragile (and I have another use for it). I got one from Mscom but sadly after I installed everything I realized that they gave me the wrong ram. So have asked for a partial refund.

(It should have been 1TB but is 500GB).
Sorry for not replying before, I have not been that well - good time to buy a laptop!!

That is the HDD, not RAM.

Fortunately I was more awake when I complained and said HDD. Thanks anyway, what sort of refund should I get?

What exactly does "refurbished" mean (and indeed what is "furbished" in the first place?).

The essential component parts themselves won't have been changed, so really it's a quick dusting with a damp cloth.

In my case the hard drive has changed from 1Tb to 500Gb!

The difference between same models I noted with 500GB and 1TB was £20 + VAT
