    Forget about it..... old and overpriced.

    Something a bit more up to date: http://mcscom.co.uk/product/dell-inspiron-15-5558-i5-5200u-2-20ghz-8gb-1tb-920m-15-6-fhd-w10h-1yr-rtb-wty-mln298/

    Not necessarily a recommendation, but a place from where to begin.

    Why have you moved away from the refurb route? It's a definite way of saving some money so long as you do some research. Argos and Tesco both have eBay shops where they sell what are probably pretty much unused customer returns and offer some sort of warranty,

    An 8440p whilst built like a brick outhouse is very obsolete and slower than the specs would have you believe. In the past a staple model for many large corporates, which will have sent them for recycling for a fraction of the price that site is charging.

    Just for some perspective this model was superseded by an 8460p -> 8470p -> 840 G1 -> 840 G2 -> 840 G3/G4

    840G1 is accetable but anything from the G1 onwards aren't built like the previous models.

    I can understand your surprise but their terms of conditions state
    http://mcscom.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/
    We are a Trade Supplier and by accepting these Terms And Conditions you are agreeing that the items purchased from us are for business use and that you accept our terms and conditions.
    I am not surprised that you didn't believe me - I find it hard to believe.
    If I understand correctly and I have a bad headache so might be wrong, it is against their terms and conditions to buy a laptop for private use. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong - I have had a very long day and am not quite with it.

    Take a look through the Tesco Outlet shop on eBay.

    These are going to be customer returns. They will all be relatively recent, many will be pretty much brand new, I think they will have a warranty too....
