Not a fan of .Airbnb. Prefer booking.com and sunshine holidays. we're going mid September ana d happy to pay 200pp if all our boxes are ticked.
There is loads available on booking.com, was just wondering if anyone knew of any gems.

An odd stance to take. Any particular reason? I'm not keen on their fees, but then I can negotiate with the vendor. Can't do that on Booking.com and the like.

Despite your objections I'd also second Melanzana's suggestion the you should just stay in Malaga town. It's pointless trying to compare it to Madrid or Barcelona, that's like comparing Wigan with London, but taken on it's own merits it's a very nice place.

Or, as PompeyPete suggests, Torre del Mar, it's a bit quiet out of season but I would think in September it'll still have some life to it - not as picturesque as Nerja (or Malaga come to that) but pleasant enough.

Not odd at all. You have to pay up front with Airbnb. I don't like the add ons cleaning fees etc. With booking.com I pay a few weeks before we stay. I've also cancelled for free when the price of the hotel has dropped at rebooked for no extra cost. Did this with a very expensive hotel in the US last uear.

Eh, I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't want to stay in Malaga Town. I don't get the love for it at all. Found it boring, the beach was crap, and restaurants very mediocre.
Torre del Mar is worth a look though.

You asked about apartments, not hotels.

So let me know what you find. Cleaning fees and add ons make no difference if the price is lower overall than one on Booking.com anyway
Plus, once again, you can often negotiate with an airbnb vendor.

My point being that you are cutting down your options.

There are a few beaches in Malaga, I have been to a couple one was better than the other but all in all I love Malaga especially the old town and the tapas bars.

Look at Sunset Beach Club at Benalmadena, been there once and thought it was great for the price.
