Having given up my tv some years ago, I aslo stopped watched recorded programs on my tablet last October after hearing you needed a license now to do this, but on careful reading of the regulations, it seems to say that you only need to do this for BBC recorded programs. I gathered that ITV programs are okay.

I moved house this year and declared again on their internet site that I do not need a license. If they come I will not let them in.

It depends on what you mean by "recorded programs". Any TV broadcast requires a Licence to receive and/or record at the time that it is received. Once it has been recorded, it can be played back anywhere at any time with or without a TV Licence.

That may involve copyright issues, but these are nothing to do with TV Licensing.

Any use of BBC iPlayer requires a TV Licence (except for Radio iPlayer and S4C). Presently, if you download content using iPlayer you need to be covered by a Licence whilst you are downloading, but having done that, you are able to watch it anywhere at any time (up to its electronically determined expiry date) without requiring a TV Licence.

Yes. You can watch all Commercial Catch-up services - the free ones are ITV Hub, All4, Demand 5 and UKTV Player (Dave, Really, Yesterday).

You can also watch all pre-recorded videos on Youtube, and everything on Netflix and Amazon.

Watching foreign channels' live streaming over the Internet is something of a grey area.

15 years now without needing or having a license and I've had 2 visits.

1st guy lied and said they had been told that new people had moved in, an attempt to catch me out and I guess but tv licensing apologised and said he shoudn't of said that when I rang them to query it.

2nd guy I said I had no issue with him entering but I would record everything with my phone for my protection. I don't trust them as they are commission based and if he did decide to lie and take it further it would be my word against his, he declined and so didn't enter

I don't trust them personally and my advice would be don't sign anything even if they say it's just to say they called
