Aurigny saying they aren't covered by EU rules as based in Channel Islands

Anybody had any experience of them?

They rebooked me on another flight the next day. Only offering to refund accommodation I paid for, no compensation for flight cancellation / delay.

    from their website

    clarification regarding EU 261/2004 compensation
Please note, that as a Guernsey based, non EU airline, all Aurigny’s flights that depart from either Guernsey or Alderney are not subject to EU 261 compensation whatever the reason for their delay.

Flights returning to Guernsey or Alderney from any UK or EU airport that we serve are subject to EU 261 rules and compensation for delays of more than three hours, when that delay is within Aurigny’s control, may apply.

Please note, delays caused by extraordinary circumstances, poor weather or air traffic issues are not subject to EU compensation.

If the flight was departing from the CI then there is indeed no EU261 coverage

But if it departed from an EU member then compensation maybe due.

    Thanks for that.

The flight was Guernsey to London so looks like refund on hotel for the night is the best I can get? Shouldn't they also offer something for inconvenience etc?

Morally they should, but they won't unless forced to by law. Even then airlines try every trick in the book to avoid paying out,

it might be worth checking your travel insurance policy to see if it covers anything for delays
