At the moment I'm with origin broadband and it's no good, they are trying to talk me into going over to fiber optic

When you enter your telephone number on Origin's website (or The BT Checker) what predicted speeds are you getting? Speed is dependent on the length of copper cable from your home to the fibre box. The longer the copper cable is, the slower the FTTC speed will be.

    BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
    BT Wholesale SDSL
    BT FTTC
    Vodafone LLU
    TalkTalk (CPW) LLU

The above doesn't even mention VIrgin - are you sure they supply you at present? As already said, nobody re-sells the Virgin service, it is physically separate from BT's OpenReach service, which many do re-sell. From Origin's own website:
As a network operator, we deal directly with Openreach.
FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) is better than FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet), if you can get and afford it. Mainly aimed at business use and priced accordingly. FTTC means there is a fibre connection between the exchange and the street cabinet (green box) nearest you. From there, it's regular copper cable to the premises.

Where Openreach have installed FTTP, it's no more expensive than Infinity 1 and 2 (if you're to use BT)

Native FTTP and FTTP on Demand are two totally seperate things. It's the latter which is expensive and aimed at business users :)

    Does that include line rental?
Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future

Yes - that price includes Line Rental, except at Vodafone, which has no line rental (only BB is provided, not home phone).

Have you tried the MSE Broadband Search? Select Broadband Speed = "upto 38Mbps" to get Fibre deals.

    MSE Broadband Unbundled

For my postcode, the cheapest 18 month deal is with EE which equates to £24.73pm including Weekend calls. That's an "equivalent" price that includes the effect of £100 cashback.

Talktalk is £26.50pm, although I am with them and pay £25pm.

Also Vodafone (no home phone) at £25pm.

Best value overall is probably EE 76Mbps at an equivalent price of £28.73 including Weekend calls.
