Manchester airport fast track security

Hi folks,

Does anyone know if you get access to the fast track security lanes at Manchester Airport with a business class ticket (Lufthansa)? And, typically, how long it might take to get through around lunch time on Sunday in August?

I'm flying from Manchester for the first time in a couple of weeks - I have Heathrow down to a fine art, but I just want to make sure I allow enough time to get through security etc at the airport.

I can't seem to find out if having a business class ticket gets me through the fast track - or if there's any advantage over the normal queue anyway...

(Also, any other Manchester airport hacks welcome!)

Cheers!

I flew out with a BA business class ticket and it certainly did give me fast track through security. Even so, it probably took me a good ten minutes: fast track simply enables you to go straight to the front of the queue, unlike Heathrow where there are dedicated fast-track screening points.

I suggest you note which terminal you are using, and how far it is from the station or car park that you will use. My departure point was a long way from the station: had I realised how far I would probably have used a luggage trolley, despite the excessive hire charge (three pounds I think).

Manchester Airport does have dedicated Fast Track (and Priority) lanes with their own barriers. You have to scan your Fast Track pass/boarding card to gain access.

Not sure how busy it would be on a Sunday afternoon, but on a least one occasion I have noted that the main security line was shorter than the fast track!.

The charge for a trolley is currently £1.

If it's not included in your ticket, you can buy it for £5, prebookable here http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/guides-to-travelling/security/security-fasttrack/http://

Might be worth a tweet to Manchester Airport to ask which airlines' business passengers are able to use the fast track, if indeed they are.

Terminals 1 and 3 certainly have their own Fast Track lanes. Not used 2 for a while, but they used to have a Fadt Track lane.

T2 does have a Fast Track lanes, they were certainly there when I used them last month.
  • Thanks everyone, that's helpful! Lufthansa fly from T1. I'll just plan to arrive in plenty of time, as usual!

I've flown from Heathrow a lot in the last year, but (apart from London City) this is my first time from any other UK airport in a long time. Really interested to see how they compare. For all the complaints about Heathrow, I've generally had good experiences there.
