Medex Private Health Insurance

Medex Protect, is an insurer that insures uninsured excesses on health insurance policies. So in exchange for a premium of say £200, you can insure an uninsured excess of £500. This means that if you do make a claim of £500 or more, you bear the first £500 of the claim and you then turn to Medex and ask them to pay out the £500 that you have been unable to claim.
Medex used to run a pretty clean ship and we made claims against policies that we held with them in 14/15 and 15/16. I gathered up each individual claim for each policyholder in our group at the end of 14/15 and 15/16, and made a claim at the end of the year.
Obviously, this is the sensible way to do it, because it cuts down on admin for all parties. It gives Medex a small cashflow benefit, for which they should be grateful.
These claims were paid.
By their own admission, Medex has, in the last year or so, taken the payout process in-house and they are looking carefully at their terms for reasons to avoid payment of claims. The sales manager on duty on 21st July 2017 told me that they have rigorously enforced their trading terms since they have been directly responsible for payouts.
This year, I followed the same end of year claims procedure. Medex rejected all claims, despite them being totally legitimate claims, on the basis that I had held onto them for more than 3 months, which is buried in their small print as a reason to reject a claim. Well, that's all right then!!
It seems that Medex are now looking very closely at any claim with a view to rejecting anything they can, regardless of merit, to reduce cash outflow.
Has anybody else had similar experiences?

Though you do need to speak to someone in claims rather than sales.
Maybe worth pointing out the custom and practice you have had no issues with previously, and may have grounds for complaint if they changed the ts + cs regarding time frames without pointing this out to you.0
