Healthy Pet Club - Help!

Hi All,
I was after some advice is possible.
I had a membership with the Healthy Pet Club, paying £9.99 per month for a 'free' 6 monthly health check up for my cat (it also included discounts on various treatments).
I held the account for 1 year, and cancelled after keeping the plan the minimum term as per the T&Cs (12 months).
I have since received an invoice from the vet (operated by CVS UK who manage the Healthy Pet Club scheme) for £100+. It states next to it simply 'cancellation of HPC'.
I do remember visiting the vet in January 2017 (after the plan had been cancelled) and them telling me that I didn't owe anything for the appointment. I am presuming that HPC had not informed the surgery of my cancellation, and they have now realised that they should have charged me for the Jan appt. Should I contest it - seen as I as told that nothing was owed and that HPC have records of my cancellation request back in the October of 2016?
I don't mind paying it, but am a bit miffed that they have just sprung a bill on me when they should have been informed by their 'owners' that I had cancelled. Any help is appreciated!

Sorry but I can't think of much that would help. Only say that if you would have trouble paying it, perhaps ask them for time to pay it off owing to their mistake.
Usually in these circumstances you'd be looking to be put back in the position you would have been in had they not made the mistake. If they had done things correctly, you presumably (you haven't implied anything to the contrary anyway) been £100 lighter some 6 months ago on the date of the appointment.
The only thing I can even remotely think of is if (sorry, too early, can't think all the various exemptions I know there is one for medicine/healthcare I think but not sure in what context/capacity) the CCRs apply to vet services, which requires them to give certain information (ie price or how the price will be calculated) if not already apparent. Exception also for day-to-day transactions performed immediately and although this is performed immediately, I'm not quite sure it would be a day-to-day transaction.
However I will note that if they are a good vet and you are happy with them, I would pay them. It sounds like a mistake and its not had a negative impact on you. If you push the matter, they could always refuse your custom in future. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Vets4Pets and CompanionCare (linked to Pets@Home) offer a £99 one off "Vac4Life" plan, which as well as covering all their annual vaccinations for life, offers a 6 monthly health check for life.
I know it doesn't answer your query but perhaps a suggestion going forwards.0
