Cheap Dinnerware

Options
Hello everyone,

I take great pride in having a homely, smart house and with all areas I take an interest in, I like to go the extra mile to impress - whilst doing it as cheaply as possible.

At the moment, I am really getting into making my house, and presently, my kitchen look smart and homely. I would like to be able to treat my guests to restaurant standard meals, including the presentation. This means I am going to be buying quite a few things for the kitchen, including many things you wouldn't buy as the bare necessities such as a long rectangular plate simply to put a loaf of garlic bread on. Therefore I will need the cheapest supplier possible, and preferably one that delivers. What is the cheapest supplier of such goods you use?

Thank you

    Hilarious.

    John Lewis 'House' range.

I'd consider upgrading your garlic bread past a baguette if you wanna be posh and want to avoid awkward, innapropriate plate scenarios. Two baguettes on a square plate or a round flatbread.

We have gravy boats but have to use a Pyrex jug to catering grade levels for four of us. If someone could recommend a gravy ship, I'd like that too.

How will you supply the food for these "restaurant standard meals" and which "standard" will you be adhering to?

Garlic bread is so last year. Try some focaccia darling.

John Lewis is definitely the supplier you crave.
  • Emphasis on "cheap", John Lewis is expensive! D:

The 'House' stuff is okay, price point wise.

If you've got the budget for pointless plates, you got the budget for John Lewis.

I buy the white stuff from Ikea but not sure they stock baguette plates. :o

Ikea has a marvellous garlic bread plate in the Dinera range, although I use it to serve cafe standard sandwiches. At only £3 per plate, it means I can afford to go the extra mile and use organic cucumber in the sandwiches.

    So do I.

I've used nothing else for years but now they have discontinued lots of the 365+ range including the big dinner plates which I could do with a couple of.

    I'm gutted.

And closely behind Wilko, try Home Bargains - lots of crockery including rectangular plates.

If they're not hand thrown plates, made with organic clay gathered from rare mineral fields .... us guests will spot it and you'll be dropped from the social calendar pretty quickly.
