Wrong reg on ukpc ticket

Hello members

I got a windshield parking ticket from ukpc for parking in a disabled bay. I know I should not have but it was late in evening and wanted to collect some items from shop before it closed for the day so took the chance. I had parked only for 10 min's there but got a ticket.

Now I read the newbie post(wich is v helpful thanks) and checked that ukpc is bpa aos member so accordingly I should appeal on 25th 26th day of ticket.

However I checked the ticket and it has my reg number wrong. My reg is AF42*** but they got it as AF32***. So my question is whether I wait for NTK or appeal on 25th day as in newbie post?

Also what are the chances of the ticket being cancelled for my case?

Thanks in advance for any help members!!!

One of the reasons these parking scammers exist is because of people who abuse parking facilities. In other words, you are part of the problem.

Having said that, I detest private parking scumpanies, especially ones like UKPC who were caught doctoring time stamps on their photo' "evidence."
It is a widely held belief that parking companies deliberately put incorrect details on a PCN in the hope the motorist will 'phone up and give away the driver's identity.

My advice therefore would be to appeal around day 25 as detailed in the NEWBIES thread.

But then again if they have noted down the wrong number appealing at day 26 will give the game away. So there is a strong argument for waiting for the Notice to Keeper, if it ever arrives of course.

I agree, wait for the NTK.

    Thanks for the inputs.

Yes I agree that I should not have parked in the disabled area and I never do. I think I got carried away by the time of the day which I should not have in the hindsight.

Also as per your experience. Are disabled parking ticket for offences in private parking control legal? My friend was saying that it's not legal hence wanted to check.

    Thanks

    Legal = criminal law.
Lawful = civil or contract law.

On private land, disabled bays have to be provided by law in certain circumstances for people with disabilities or certain protected characteristics as defined by the EA 2010. Anyone can use them lawfully, but morally not everyone should.

The Blue Badge scheme does not apply on private land. A BB is not the only indicator of a disability, but parking scammers would have you believe otherwise.

I say appeal on day 26 because we KNOW that UKPC will 'adjust' the registration and 're-issue' a NTK showing the right registration, if you do nothing. They do this all the time.

So on balance, I would go for the standard appeal at day 26 and NOT wait, but you might have to put the wrong reg in on their webpage to see their photos and make the appeal. Do not choose 'driver' obviously! Make sure you follow the NEWBIES thread wording, no more.

It is not illegal. These are private parking charges so they can make their own rules up, including for disabled bays, and in fact they are in the right - but I still say appeal and do not pay, because UKPC are considered by the good people on this forum, to be absolute scumbag ex-clampers.

P.S. NEVER park in a disabled bay, it is selfish every time even if the bays are empty.

    Dear Members

I started looking into the appeal on Newbie post however bit confused regarding the large letter's requirement. How large should the letters be for the large letter requirement?

To be specific, I'm attaching the sign board at the parking. Does it qualify for large letter

    Many thanks

Ps- The actual pic in the photo evidence is v bad and I cannot read anything on that.

Don't worry about the specifics at this stage, just send the appeal in as it stands, no additions or subtractions. All you're angling for is a POPLA code where we can help with the more detailed stuff then.

Your link doesn't work for me, by the way.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Sorry I changed the privacy settings now.

Also I was thinking if I should just pay off with discount or is there any case.
Hence I was checking the details

    Thanks

That photo looks more clear than normal UKPC evidence, did you take that?

Have a look instead at the shaky photos UKPC have on their website by logging in to 'view photos'. Much more useful.

nononononononononono!!!!!!!! No paying the damn thing, of course you have a case.

Do as I advised and send the usual appeal online to UKPC at day 26, changing the default to 'registered keeper'.

Do not wait for the NTK, just crack on and keep the faith about beating this scumbag firm of ex-clampers at POPLA. The whole point is you can't be held liable. You will win by appealing as keeper and the signs won't be likely to come into POPLA's reasoning.
