    Depends on the program your running. In synthetic benchmarks then yes the Intel CPU may score higher but in real life will you notice the difference?

    I went to the R1700 and its great, I leave VM's churning away in the background and my desktop is still lag free.

    Rendering 3D files previously I did wonder a few times whether it was still working or had it crashed. Not anymore.

    Sometimes a cheaper CPU will run faster than a all singing all dancing wallet busting CPU. Some games the i3's get better framerates than an i7.
