This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off Karcher.

Judi I hope that you have a good time away and manage to unwind a bit after all of the recent stresses.

I woke up early at 5.00am again this morning. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t. I am getting used to getting up and reading now.

Just before I went to sleep last night there was quite a commotion outside which turned out to be a fight between two groups of lads. That’s never happened before and I’ve lived here 11 years now. It was quite scary but the police were quickly on the scene and had the situation under control within a few minutes.

It will be nice if the weather is a bit more settled today because I am going to a street festival in a village. I go with my brother and his family every year and it always a good day with lots going on. There are all sorts of stalls, a fun fair on the village green, competitions and a parade.

I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.

Blimey, everyone is late up this morning...7.50am and no Daily thread yet :p

    Morning all

I for one wish I wasn't awake..my first chance for a lie in for ages and despite being exhausted after no sleep Friday night and a very busy day yesterday, I woke stupidly early and couldn't get back to sleep :(

I feel like a zombie and need more tea...back later..

Have a good day all :)

    Morning All

I too was up early but have read for a while. Wish I could have a better lie in but never mind.

One load of washing on the line, I'll do a white wash once I've had a shower. DW and bins emptied.

Didn't do any sewing yesterday but did wax the kitchen/laundry woodwork, realised it hadn't been done after all the building works before Christmas. I've run out of wax now so will go and buy some more later.

Off for a swim in a bit, may cycle as it's dry for now.

Have a happy Sunday, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a lovely sunny morning here today. I managed a lie in so I feel loads better. Everyone else is still fast asleep so I have fed the animals and settled down on the computer for a bit.

Congratulations to Gers on being successful with your interview xx
Welcome back to nannywindow and camelot xx

I went to Pride yesterday with Becky, Lilly and my grandchildren. It was lots of fun but the weather was a bit showery so we only stayed for a couple of hours. Becky was in her element and the kids really enjoyed themselves going on the fairground rides and eating lots of candyfloss. Hopefully they will have some good memories of the day out.

Steve is in charge of domestics today and we are having lamb chops for a change. Yummy, looking forward to that. He also did a couple of loads of washing yesterday so all I have to do is put it away.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning folks and thanks KARCHER. Sadly no sleeping-in was being done here! I wish!

It's a glorious start here with the sun up and shining bright and early. Unfortunately not to last as we have showers (some thundery) forecast for later. But no plans to spoil so hey-ho.

Just been rooting in the freezer to do a meal plan for the day. Lunch will be chicken in mushroom sauce (I'll cut the chicken up for the invalid!) with baby roasties and assorted veg. Tonight will be l/o chicken curry for Mr TA and I shall have some smoked haddock with salad and Quinoa and Wholegrain rice. (A pack of the Seeds of Change brand which I picked up in Fultons for a bargain price as nearing its bb date. It's over £2 in the sm's! Eeeek who pays all that?!)

Have a nice relaxing Sunday if you can folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all xx

    Morning all,

A sort of newbie here - I used to be on the forums (mostly lurking) years ago but circumstances have found me in quite a bit of debt so here I am looking for tips, inspiration and support! On holiday in Cornwall at the moment and being so worried about money on holiday is what had finally made me realise I need to do something!
Old style wise today, we are using our already paid for national trust tickets to go for a lovely walk round st Michaels mount today and then a walk to look at the commonwealth war graves near our campsite later. Then a cuppa and looking at old style ideas later.
Looking forward to getting to know you all :)

Good morning, thank you for starting the thread karcher.
It is cool and damp here, there has been a little shower but meant to be nicer later. The grass in the nearby children's playground was looking very sad but all this rain has perked it up and I always like the way that it cleans the pavements up too.

The mister and the son are still asleep. I've spent the last few hours pootling quietly and reading. Got some washing done but not sure if it will be a good drying day, time will tell.

The house is clean but not very tidy. I think if I just left it, people woukd be picking their way between piles of stuff. Most of it would be electronic gadget related. There are about 5 million bits of flex that I can see. I bet some are not used but I get shouted at if I meddle. I accidentally tidied a thing that I don't know the name of and was in huge trouble until it was described and then was able to produce it. I still don't know what it is, it is a thing that controls another thing that enables my son to watch television via his mobile phone or something of that ilk. Why he wants to do that is beyond my understanding.

All I have to do today is make a meal but I am not inspired. Yesterday my OH cooked, it being Saturday. They had pish sausages in buns with onions and salad and vile sour cream crisps, I had a piece of salmon, new potatoes and salad. I could do some spare ribs, in fact the freezer is rammed with meat just waiting to be turned into family meals but all I want is a cheese omelette really. Not meat. Oh well.

The damp smell yesterday went and has not returned so far.

I'm feeling flatter than a flounder recently, if it stays dry, I'll go for a walk to brighten myself up. Hope you all have good days today.

Good morning chums and a warm welcome back to emmwri, hope you have a great and hopefully frugal holiday.Lots of nice walks in Cornwall and using your NT card will help I'm sure. I am off in a few weeks with my family to the IoW as usual and we all look forward to lots of picnics on the beach (weather permitting ) and walks with the dogs.We once even picniced in the car on the front at Shanklin and 5 ft waves were crashing about during a heavy storm :):):) Have thermos will travel :):)

Well its Sunday morning so menu's to do for the week and veg prepping. I am also making some celery soup for this weeks soup to use up the rest of the celery in the fridge I will add some paprika to give it a bit of a kick :) and a good dollop of garlic as well. Will also make DD some scones for her to take to work tomorrow and maybe a cake for DGS's.I have four of them to look after this week, and their hollow legs need filling up :)

Hope everyone has a peaceful day and <<hugs >> to those who are in need of one

    Take care all
