Barclays would of done a full investigation before adding the marker against your name
I'm sure it is possible in some circumstances to get a CIFAS marker removed, if they made a mistake. However in this circumstance, it does sound very much as if the marker was deserved.
Actions have consequences. If they removed CIFAS markers every time someone said sorry, then there would be no CIFAS markers.0 -
Hi , sorry if im posting in wrong thread im new to this
I have had a barclays account for 2 years now and banked large sums with them . unfortunately last month i received balance updates stating someone had withdrawn over £1000 from my account over the duration of a midnight period i.e 500 withdrawn at 11:58 and 500 withdrawn at midnight 12:01 . as soon as i received these updates i rang barclays to report unauthorised use they acknowledged that this was a case of fraud and my card was cancelled and i was refunded the £1000 back . However 1 month later they redebited the money back out my account and i rang to ask why . they said that i had not responded to their calls regarding the case but the fraud agent who gave me the refund told me to ignore the letter that comes in post and i should not worry. since i had not answered tye fraud departments call within 10 days of the fraud happening and receiving my refund they closed the case and left my account in -1000 . i then wrote an email asking barclays to reopen the fraud case and gave them a crime reference number i later reveived a call from Jason from the fraud dept who asked me where the initial 1000 came from i told him my mother and he asked me to photocopy my mothers bank statement as proof . he also asked me to prove where a 100 payment came from my aunty which i could not do as she would not let me have a copy of her bank statements . at this point jason told me that until i got a statement from my aunty the fraud case would remain closed and my account in -1000 HELP!0 -

You'll probably get more help if you start a new thread, rather than starting a new, unrelated topic on someone else's thread.
Click on the blue 'New Thread' button near top left of this board.
You'll also make it easier for people to read if you use a few paragraphs.0 -
Heyy I had the same problem as me. Barclays have closed my account for 2/3 years now. I'm only 20 too and now I'm saving for a car and also want to save for a mortgage but I can't even open a current account. Have you got any advice on how to get the marker removed. Any help would be great. Thank you0

What did you do or were alleged to have done to get the marker?
A correctly placed marker won’t be removed.====0 -
Hi, this has happened to me as well but I met this guy through Instagram and he got £9000 using my account. I gave him my information as well to get "easy money". I reported this to Barclays and to the police (which said report it to action fraud) so I did. my account was closed with Barclays so I open a new one with Santander but they closed the account because I had a CIFSA mark. I know I made a mistake and accept the punishment. but I am 18 wanting to go university, so will I be able to get a student loan and a maintenance loan. And also will this effect my future career, I want to become a chartered accountant. it just these things and cant we get this guy arrested.0

Action Fraud is the City of London Police, if they can they will arrest the guy, depending on what evidence there is.
Unfortunately it sounds like you did commit fraud on your account so the marker will remain until it eventually falls of. The most recent post I’ve seen said it’s now 6 years for a fraud CIFAS marker.====0 -
