VM do have utilisation problem in some area's, but it doesn't mean all.

If you want a good connection at 6pm then it would be best to avoid a VM contract. or talk to neighbours who have VM

but when Virgin fibre say 50Mbps, you get that!

Well I actually get 55mbps when tested.

But some area's have problems around 6pm

The headline "speed" is no good if their network is so contended that it's not attainable in times of high load.

I get 65Mbps measured throughput on my FTTC connection and I get that any time of the day or night.

Didn't think anyone could promise a speed , thought speeds are always "up to 40 meg"

BT give a minimum guaranteed speed.

In my case it was 49 Mbps. Reality is 32 Mbps. An Openreach engineer visit hasn't improved matters.

    Hi benallman,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having some problems with the speed of your connection.

Could you drop my team a tweet (@talktalk) so we can take a look what speeds your line is capable of. If you could drop is a DM with your fault reference we'll be able to see what's happening for you.

It's also worth going through test socket testing as others have advised in this thread. You can find more info on this on the help pages on the TalkTalk website.

    Thanks
    Emma
