    Thanks Wish, I've certainly had a restful start. I woke at 7 but took a large coffee back to bed and read my book:)

    Hello Pinky, I just read your first page and think you are very wise to be putting more into the pension than to overpayment as it is a much better deal in the long run. If I could go back twenty years, AVCs on my teacher pension would have been an excellent idea for me. But I was clearly too immature then to think about such a thing. Well done you!
    And good luck with the marking. I hope you can have the weekend off and take a break. X

    Nice to 'see' you Squirrel :). In fairness I've left it a bit late but better late than never!

    Your new job sound fab, hope it continues to go well. Xx

    In that case I've made my decision. January it is. We have enough treats at Christmas anyway and if they are there I eat them :o

    UToday has been just great, sunshine and blue skies and a nip in the air. Autumn at its very best :). Have I mentioned I love Autumn?
    Autumn food, foraging, preserving, lighting the fire, cosy nights in, walking and running in the woods - love it :)

    Today has been pretty productive with most things getting done. I managed to ;

    Dig over the largest section of garden and cleared the leaves from the paths and patio.

    Do a spin class

    Get ds to and from the station - he's had a lovely day :)

    Make tomato and basil soup ( including 4 portions for the freezer).

    Get the laundry dry and folded but not put away :o

    Get final load in the wm to be line dried tomorrow

    Basic daily clean done

    Wrap 4 Christmas pressies

    Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, tom and basil soup and lo pasta bake for lunch and lo veg curry and rice from the freezer for dinner as there was only me as the kids were both out.

    Added up my total spends and os savings for October as its pay day tomorrow and my new month starts. Despite lots of annual spends and my other big bill its much better than I thought. I'm not going to do my final totals until the mortgage updates on the first but I did put my figures into the op calculator and if I can keep this up I'll be MF in Sept 2022 rather than January 2027:). Feel really motivated. If I could achieve that then I'd have another 2 years to throw everything at my pension and could retire on a good income in 2024 age 55:j. Now there's something to aim for:)

    Still to do;

    Marking (who could have predicted that :rotfl:)

    Sweep decking

    Dig over two small plots and split some grasses and shrubs that are taking over .

    Look after dad

    Make pizzza dough (will use bm)

    Food shop although I'm going to try and push that out until Sunday by having a use up.

    Night night

    PP xx

    Thanks PP, I hope so too, we've been adjusting bed time to account for the fact the clocks go back tomorrow night, so he was up later than normal, I just hope it works. Yes, I a man shattered, but I'm not sleeping well full stop at the moment.

    Poor sleep is horrid. My sleep patterns can be awful ( think its my age:o) and it messes with your head after a while. Hope last night was better xx

    What a miserable day, grey and drizzly and feels like its never got light - thank goodness its forecast sunshine tomorrow:)

    I've spent most of the day with my dad who is so much calmer at the moment. Very forgetful but no anxiety so he's much more settled. You can't take your eyes off him though :rotfl:

    In between whiles I got some things done;

    A load of laundry on the airer in front of the wood burner so its nearly dry.

    Hm soup and ys rolls for lunch and hm pizza for dinner (used up some semolina flour from AF which was lovely).

    £3.15 payment from Shopium os

    Mum and dad coming for dinner tomorrow so I stretched a small cooked brisket joint from the freezer by turning into steak and ale pie filling, prepped the veg so just need to make the pastry. My first thought was buy a bigger joint but I'm learning :D

    Did the food shopping as I needed stock cubes and mushrooms to get ahead with tomorrow's dinner . Spent £17.54 including two light bulbs and a dehumidifying tub so I was pleased with that. Most meals this week are coming from the freezer so cheap an easy :)

    Tomorrow's to dos are;

    Finish digging over the garden

    Marking :(

    Make pastry

    Sort out lunches for Monday

    Family time :)

    Goodness its turned cold, they weren't wrong when they said temperatures were going to plummet. The wood burner was lit at 3pm and the heating was also on for an hour later on. Really wanted to hold off on the heating until November but mum and dad feel the cold and there's also no point in making this journey purgatory. The house is lovely and cosy and I'm in bed with a cup of tea and my electric blanket has been on. The sheer bliss of simple things:)

    Today has been a bit hectic and I realised by 10 am that my list of to dos was unrealistic so I prioritized. Having spent a couple of hours with dad I got out for a long run in the sunshine because you don't get many days like today so it seemed daft to waste it.

    As it was a rare drying day I got two loads of laundry done including all the towels and bath mats and got them on the line.
    I prepped the last few bits for dinner and made a 5 minute 'steamed' jam sponge in the microwave which along with some basics custard made a lovely cheap pud. With hindsight, steak pie and sponge and custard - it was just as well I got out for that run :o. It was blooming good though - love stodgy cold weather food :)

    The kids were on great form, ds's bf joined us and mum and dad really enjoyed it, as did I. You can't beat a proper family dinner. Feeling blessed :A

    I've no money news other than it was a nsd. Nothing much is likely to happen until the 1st but I'm going to try and have nsd between now and then.

    Other successes included;

    Finishing my marking :j

    Uniform , pe kit and lunches ready for tomorrow

    Chilli defrosting for tomorrow's dinner so just rice to cook which is great as I have a meeting after school and ds has an after school activity so its always a bit of a rush on Mondays.

    Laundry put away

    Dishwasher emptied and recycling sorted out

    Alarm on :eek:

    Fails

    Didn't get the garden finished but at least I got some done on Friday. It'll wait:p

    Off for an early night ready to return to the world of work:eek:
