I never knew I could wash walls with sugar soap, I think I’ve got a random spray bottle of that somewhere but I never knew what it was for! I’ll give that a go tomorrow!“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest3

Morning 😀
More fabulous weather - can’t believe how it boosts my mood . We’re just not used to it in the frozen north 😂
I’ve had a good few days but can’t believe how the holidays are flying by! I’ve had a few days in school and I’m now fully set up for September 😀. I’ve got a couple of days set aside for planning before I go back but other than that I’m done.
I’m going to focus on jobs at home this week and then I’m OH and I are staycationing for two whole weeks 😀😀. We plan to do lots of walking in remote, hopefully quiet places, read, watch films, run and generally just relax. Can’t wait!
This week has been quite productive so far. I did a deep clean of the hall, stairs and landing (sugar soap was fab - thanks BB 😘) and cleaned the pvc front door inside and out with The Pink Stuff - it looks brand new! Also had a general sweep up of the driveway and path where the skip has been and weed killered where necessary and it all looks really clean and fresh - have a little smile inside when I walk up to the front door and into my nice, fresh hallway 😀
I managed a bit of time in the garden despite the heat and cut down the last of the triffid that’s was strangling my pergola . I’ve got a huge pile of green waste down the side of the house which needs to go in the green bin once it’s empty but at least I don’t need to look at it in the meantime. I used my leaf hoover to clean the decking once I’d finished and it’s looking very presentable which is good as my sisters are coming round for dinner and it will be nice to sit outside 😀
There have been some spends but on the whole not too bad. I got a smart new washing up bowls as mine was definitely at the end of its life - £1.49 (I know how to push the boat out 😂), some dog treats from HB and a new collar and food bowls from £land. I’ve decided to leave a set of doggy tings at OH’s as it’s easier that than moving her stuff up and down all the time.
I also got some almonds which were on offer in HB and some rice cakes as rice cakes with peanut butter and apple are my new favourite snack. All my other spends were for school which I can claim back so they don’t count.
My Asda CB CC is no more as the are no longer offering one😕 . I cashed out my voucher and spent my £27 on bits that I can get in Aldi and some mugs for DD who is flying the nest soon . I’m going to miss her so much but she’s not going far and we are close so I’ll see lots of her . They’ve worked and saved so hard to achieve this, I’m so proud of them. It’s lovely seeing how excited they are as the date approaches. They’ve also handled the money side so well - lots of charity shop bargains in the attic ready for their new home 😀
Other small steps to freedom and happiness included;
Laundry up to date
Meal plan done and sticking to it
Loads of walking
Two runs
Made overnight oats and red berry compote for quick, healthy breakfasts
Sensible amounts of healthy snacking - clothes no longer pinching 😀
Cheap, healthy HM dinners
Coloured my roots (half a box of £land dye does my roots so very MSE)
Had an afternoon sitting in the garden chatting with a friend I’ve not seen since lockdown
Drinking plenty of water - will this EVER become a habit 😂😂
Sleeping well - always awake early but feel properly rested
Starting each day with a coffee in bed reading my book
Today I’m going to go for a long walk and then make some roasted veggie filo tarts , a veggie frittata and some different salads for my get together with my sisters. Dessert is pineapple and mango with fat free hm mango ice cream and blueberry compote. We’ll then negate all that good stuff with too much wine!
Happy Wednesday to you 😀
PP xx

Sounds wonderful Pinky, you're doing really well! Amazing that you're in the north and you're having good weather - my thread has a lot of Scots folk who are really quite cold! I'm right down south so I've had the fan on overnight

I’ve bookmarked it as I like following your mortgage free journey and find lots of inspiration! I’ve started trying to do one thing a day towards freedom and one to health after reading your thread.“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest5
