    Evening:wave:

Can’t believe we’re nearly back at Monday morning:eek: My weekend has been lovely and my journey home was uneventful and I arrived on time so it’s time to time psych myself up for the coming week which is going to be busy!

    To try and keep sane and ahead I’d like to;

Eat easy, healthy meals from the freezer
Get at least 7 hours good sleep a night
Drink 2 litres of water a day
Keep on top of all my marking
Not get sucked into nonsense, time consuming conversations that leave me feeling meh
Do some kind of regular exercise

    On the MSE front I want to;
    Work out my October totals
    Have lots of nsd
    Set my November budgets
    Set my November op goals

Today has been a good start to Thriftvember (thanks Cheery - I’m joining you with bells on!!). We went for a bike ride and looked round some beautiful gardens. This was not only lovely and relaxing but I got some good ideas for my own modest version. We took coffee a picnic and when I headed off home I took a sandwich and some snacks so no unnecessary spends. I also walked back from the station despite the drizzle so I arrived home a bit soggy but £5 better off than if I’d got a taxi:)
Hope everyone has had a happy and restful weekend :)

Is it too late to wish you a Happy New Year? :o

I can’t lie, 2019 brought me several unpleasant curve balls but I finally feel like I’ve knocked as many as I can right back and the ones that just need to be dealt with are being dealt with - the most significant one being that I just miss my dear old dad :(

So out with the old and in with the new. Some of these are becoming embedded and others are a work in progress.

    Mental Health
Do not overthink situations I cannot change or influence.
Practice gratitude everyday because I have so much to be grateful for.
Invest some time, and if necessary money in some self care - aim to do something that makes me feel good every day.

    Physical Health

Exercise sensibly - spin twice a week, run once a week and weight/HIT once I week. I’ll adjust the spin/run split when the mornings and nights are lighter.
Drink a litre of water a day
Eat three healthy meals a day and limit snacking

    Financial Health
To adjust my budget to allow me to purchase the maximum additional pension through the TP scheme. This means finding £680 per month
Be mortgage free by 31st December 2020 which requires a £660 over payment

To achieve this I need to refocus on some key MFW habits whilst building in enough physical and mental health care to ensure I enjoy the journey. On that point I’m going to aim for weekly updates rather than daily because although they were great for accountability it was difficult to sustain. It also left me no time for keeping up with other diaries which I love and which I find informative and motivational.

I’m very much looking forward to the challenges ahead and have made a pretty good start which I look forward to sharing with you all very soon.

Have a great week whatever you’re up to :)

  • Lovely to see you back posting pinky I missed your updates as you are so inspirational and achieve so much.

I can’t imagine how hard it is to loose your dad :( 2019 sent some curve balls here too, hang on to those great things in your life and we’ll done for batting those awful curve balls back where they came from.

Looking forward to your weekly updates, I can’t do daily either ;)

Do you mean MF by Jan 2020 or is it 2021?!? Here cheering you on either way :D

    Evening :hello:

Thank you lovely peeps :). It’s so nice to have you alongside as this MF journey is both a joyful and a tough one and encouragement and support from like minded folks is just fab!
Thanks for highlighting my dopey mistake Purps - it’s December 2020 I’m aiming for!!
    So last week’s update...
I’m trying really hard with my goals and I must confess - I’m feeling good. Life is well life, so not perfect but on the whole, things are pretty good. Can definitely recommend trying the whole gratitude thing because it really does improve your mood:)

    Mental Health
Today I’m grateful that I’m loved, I have a lovely, cosy home and that I’m sleeping well.
I’ve also bumped into a situation that always causes me anxiety and upset ( which it did) but I managed to not to overthink it and tried to be positive and it got me down for an evening and not days or weeks like it has in the past - I’m going to call that a win!
My self care has involved a minor relaxing of the purse strings but is so worth it. I now have a long, relaxing bubble bath on the nights I don’t shower at the leisure centre ( about three nights a week) which is more expensive than my usual quick shower but it’s so relaxing. I went to £land a few weeks ago and bought myself two packs of pink and white heart shaped bath bombs from the valentine range which smell lovely, a tub of moisturising rose scented face mask, some under eye gel patches, a tube of eye cream, a tube of serum , some scented candles and a nail polish. I now have a full on pamper hour three times a week and it feels great. The products cost £10 but they’ll last me weeks and have been worth every penny. I light the candles, put on a podcast and just chill :)

    Physical Health
Water consumption is a work in progress but I’m trying! I did however manage three spin sessions, one run, one HIT class and 20 minutes weights.

    Financial Health

I’ve meal planned for the week and stuck to my grocery shopping list so I’m on track for my £140 grocery budget. All breakfasts, lunches, coffees and snacks will come from home and all dinners are batch cooked and in the freezer. I’m aiming for a zero food waste week.
I’ve had a NS weekend (apart from food and petrol) so my £50 personal spends is still in tact. To help with this I’m also trying to improve my environment which makes me feel good but also gives me a series of little projects which keeps me out of the shops! This week I have upcycled a piece of furniture I already had with chalk paint and wax I already had. It looks so nice! I also raked up the leaves in the garden, cut back lots of brown, dead looking foliage and swept the patio and decking. It still looks a bit soggy and drab when I look out of the window but it’s so much tidier which makes me feel very happy :) - a hour well spent .
My tax for 2018/19 and tax on account for 2019/20 is now paid so tomorrow I will be able to do my monthly mortgage totals and will be able to calculate exactly how much I need to overpay to achieve my MF in 2020 goal . (Just done it and it’s £734 a month  - good job I like a challenge ).

Wishing you a fun and thrifty week :)
