Ticket even though I paid - Total Parking Solutions

Hi,

I'm in a bit of a pickle. A week ago someone with my vehicle parked in a car park owned by total parking solutions. A ticket was paid for, after punching in the registration, put on the dash. More time was paid for than ended up needing.

Now I have a parking ticket through the post from them saying I didn't pay, with a photo of car licence plate and times of entry and exit.

I have looked for a ticket as proof but must have since thrown it. I really don't think it's fair to pay the £80/£40 fine because a ticket was paid for pay and I'm pretty whoever did it put the licence in right.

Do I have any grounds to fight this? Should I pay, query it, or just ignore it. It seems the law changed in the last few years so I don't know where I stand. I read the newbie sticky but would please appreciate a bit of input as this seems very confusing.

Everyone is politely asked not to start a new thread before first reading the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum

You will find advice there on how and when to appeal thiis

If you found it confusing then take your time going over it again

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal the driver

Edit your post to remove details of who was driving

Hi Quintin, thank you for the reply. I did read the newbie sticky but firstly didn't know what category Total Parking Solutions belonged to. I know it's not council but don't know any more. Secondly given the fact that a ticket was paid for, by either an admin error or the registration on the ticket was a digit out or so.

Post #1 in the newbies thread explains that all circs are the same!

Follow the appeal for BPA members (you could have googled to find out which association TPS are in!)

And do edit your OP as advised in #2!

Ok. So even though a ticket was bought and displayed in the car. I was probably on camera buying a ticket. I should still say no ticket was bought??

Thought you meant it by that. What do you recommend?

Post 1 in the newbies thread tells you:

START YOUR OWN NEW THREAD IF YOU FEEL YOU STILL NEED TO ASK FOR ADVICE, BUT PLEASE NOT:

''I have read the NEWBIES thread but cannot find anything specific to my case...my case is different''.

NO IT ISN'T. AND YOU DO NOT NEED SPECIFICS - FORGET THE DETAIL, THESE CASES ARE ALL THE SAME.

THIS THREAD TELLS YOU HOW TO COMPLAIN & APPEAL.

I recommend you take some time to digest the newbies faq advice - you need to follow the advice for appealing to a BPA member

But the appeal focuses on the fact that a ticket hasn't been bought because of things like unclear signage. I don't know if that is a sensible approach, since a ticket was bought.

    Can't keep repeating!

The advice is to do what that FAQ thread advises - stage 1 appeal to get a popla code, then stage 2 appeal to POPLA.

Please read the thread, and stop thinking you are different!!

a ticket may have been bought , but the paper contract that was the paid for ticket has been lost or disposed of , so there is no EVIDENCE to backup the story that one was bought and paid for

in other words, we , TPS , popla and a court only have your word for it

maybe the VRM was put in incorrectly ?

maybe the machines were faulty ?

but without the PROOF that a ticket was bought , you are no better off than somebody who did not pay for a ticket

you can see what MSE says about keeping tickets here

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/team-blog/2017/05/30/throwing-pay-display-ticket-away-use-cost-100/

so whatever the "story" , you follow the advice in that NEWBIES sticky thread , regardless

you are not going to learn this topic in one hit , Rome wasnt built in a day , so you really need to focus on what regulars are telling you , until you get up to speed

saying a ticket was bought wont wash without evidence, even if its true

the NEWBIES sticky thread covers ALL eventualities , note the word ALL

you check the BPA AOS website and the IPC AOS website to see which AOS they belong to , its that easy to check

and they wont have cameras monitoring ticket machines , they will have entry and exit ANPR cameras , taking pictures of your front and rear of the vehicle , to nab the registration details

ps:- you dont want to be in this position
